My 2001 Nissan Altima driver's side seat has all motion except backwards. How can I get it to go backwards?

It reclines and goes forward fine, but won't go back.

Before I did anything like spend a lot of money buying any parts .
I would put my head down and look under to seat locate the motor slide it forward useing the motor see what happens when it moves .
If the motor will go in 1 derection most of the time the motor is good and could be a problem with the connection wiggle the connector see if that fixes the problem .If so unplug it and clean the connection.
Also check the track make sure no debrie kitty toys lose change old french fries ECT.
The fuse isn't the problem because it moves in 1 derection listen for the noise the motor makes .So it moves that noise it dosn't move backward is their a noise like the motor wants to move but can't or no noise at all in back mode then now power to motor check connections and switches .
Wiggle the connections most of the you can isolitate problems like this and save paying someone to remove that seat and replace a motor that is likely working as good as the day it rolled off the line .
Investigate it good luck

The backward motor has quit working, go to junk yard and find same car in your year range up or down pay particular attention to how your seat track looks. designs change every three or four years. it must be exact or it will not work.

Why does driver side power seat suddenly just move back and forth for only about a 1/4 of an inch?

These devices use motors with worm gears to provide the smooth operation and torque necessary to move the seat. The most common problem, other than the motors themselves failing (and since your does move somewhat, the motor is probably OK), the next biggest issue is something gets caught in the gear drive. Get a good look under the seat and see if there isn't something jamming the forward-backward motion of the seat.

Drivers side seat is reclined and seat won't go forward

That would be listed in the owners manual. If you don't have one go here and download it.

2005 Nissan Altima - seat would do everything except recline. Hit the forward side and it has gone all the way forward (recline switch). Now, of course, the seat is not in a drivable position and...

If it will move in every other direction I would start by looking under the seat and check down in the seat trac for something lodged in it way.

2001 Durango front drivers power seat lost power and what move what is the problem?

If the seat has recline and forward, backward controls and you can do nothing at all. Then I would say you may have blown a fuse. I would check the fuse box. If you lost only recline or only forward & backward then it may be a bad motor. It can also be a motor if you lost both but both motors going bad at the same time is unlikely.

Problems with the driver's seat

On a 2006 yeah that sounds like a defect in the motor I would look to see if there were a recall on it.

The recline on my power seat stopped working

I just bought a 2005 Nissan Altima that had the same problem. The motor was fine. I opened the switch and found that a trace on the small circuit board was cut/missing. I soldered it on the spot and it solved the problem. You can access the switch by carefully prying off the switch buttons, then the plate. There are two screws that must be removed so that you can pull the switch assembly out of the seat.

Power seat on drivers side of 1996 buick park ave. wont go in reverse every ting else works ok

Chances are one of the motors has gone out. There are 3 motors for each of your power seats. One controls the forward/backward motion, one controls up/down/tilt, and the third controls the reclining seat back. In my '95 model, there is one fuse for the seats under the driver's side dashboard. There should be a diagram inside the fuse panel cover denoting which one controls the seats. Hope that helps!
