You have to align the distributor with the # 1 cylinder wire at the same time as Top center of the # 1 piston.
Hope this helps.

If not completely installed remove belt and start over. marks must be directly in line. if you have already completed the installation, you have to dismantle it again to correct this. if trying to set timing without dismantling, the distributor will not be correct and engine timing will be incorrect and run poorly

Testimonial: "I have got it dismantled, is it safe to rotate each cam sprocket to the proper mark, which I will complete after I align the crank to its position. Stephen"

How many miles to replace 2000 honda accord LX V6 3.0

i am guessing that you are asking about replacing the timing belt on your honda .. if so then here is the replacement schedule

under normal driving 105,000 miles or 84 months
under extreme temp 60,000 miles or every 48 months (hot or cold climates)

its a good idea to change the water pump and tensioner pullies at the same time.. they dont add much to the parts cost ...

its not a good idea to wait for belt failure. interference engines like yours will do a lot of damage if the belt fails.

Timing belt installation alfa 156

remove the fan belt first them start removing the bolts holding on the timing belt cover. once its off you have remove the large pully at the bottom of the engine. Mark up the small pully on the bottom and the two at the top to get your timing, make sure they dont move. release the timing belt tentioner and remove the old belt. you kit should have a new tentioner, idle pully and belt. above all mark sure your timing marks dont move, or your in trouble when you start the car.

Timing belt on Accord 2004 v6 models

2003 and up Honda Accord with 4 cylinder engines do indeed have a chain and the V6 has a belt which must be replaced at 110,000 miles. Why? Ask Honda, they designed the engines.

Honda accord

Unfortunately, u must remove the timing belt. This is why it is recommended to change the water pump when the timing belt is changed.
Here's the procedure : Disconnect neg. battery cable, remove splash shield at wheel well, (after removing wheel to help gain access, turn the engine to align timing marks and set #1 cylinder at top dead center on the COMPRESSION stroke. Once this is done, u can NOT disturb engine or u will have a fun time trying to figure out how the heck to set the timing. Drain anitfreeze, remove timing belt, remove water pump bolts (be aware that bolts may be different lengths, don't mix them up, remove water pump and O ring.
Put it back together: install new O ring and water pump, be careful Oring doesn't slip or move out of position, tighten to 9 ft lbs, install timing belt, refill antifreeze, reconnect battery cable, start car, check for leaks, bleed cooling system, replace splash shield.
