Question edited for clarity, presumably this is a Saab, tossed in a few CAPS.
Question moved from 'Crl Automotive Vehicle Parts & Accessories' category to 'maker, year, model.
Yes it is a big deal, that sounds like a major meltdown. You need an auto electrician with a professional grade scan tool computer to read the DTC codes and diagnose whey all that happened at the same time.
ABS stands for anti lock brake system. TCS stands for traction control system.
I recommend having your abs system diagnosed for faulty sensors, control module, etc. With the abs light on the traction control system is designed to disable because it utilizes the abs system to automatically help control your vehicle in loss of traction situations.
Traction control is on all the time, as soon as you start the car. If you push the button, you are turning it off. In other words, when the light is on , the tcs is off.
i have had that problem myself . i replaced the electrical part of the ignition switch and it solved those problems. should be done by experienced technician. not a simple job for beginner.you must remove center console and switch is under shifter assembly
no theres a problem with the abs, when abs doesnt work it turns on both those lights, you have to have computer scaned to get codes to diagnose the problem, it maybe just a wheel sensor. you cant turn it on or off, but you can still drive like that you just wont have abs trac-control when lights on computer shuts it down, so its like you shut it off, if you dont need it then dont fix it,wont affect running of engine .good luck.
The ABS light should only come on when there is a problem in the ABS system: a wheel sensor or hydraulic unit problem.
The ABS system shouldn't be interconnected to the engine system so that an ABS fault shuts down the engine. Are you sure as to cause and effect? Could a shorting out of the ignition switch (thereby switching off the engine) be lighting the ABS lamp?
Get a wiring diagram and check for good grounds at the appropriate locations for a 1990 SAAB; also check for possible shorting out of the ignition switch under fault conditions.
The best source of info on this car is the "Bentley Bible" aka the Saab 900 Official Service Manual, costs about $40 from Amazon!
Most likely the TCS module mounted on the abs unit used costs around 500.00 im pretty sure
Elite foreign auto parts has it they carry only saab parts.. tested and used,
to begin i dont know what it means to say expensive or not how ever, all the lights at the same time could only mean one thing the problem could be in one of the diodes in your alternator is bad thus turning on all the lights on the dash board,
now regarding your brakes especially on saab;s shake or vibration is caused by uneven surface on the brake rotors (usualy the front) my suggestion is to replace the front rotors and the brake pads at the same time.
