Remove the crankshaft pulley,the harmonic balance,with a puller made for this,then you can replace the sensor,and align it,if it is not aligned,it will break it.
it is the automatic load leveler that pumps air into the back shocks to level the car so it rides better when there are lots of people or weight in it. it is in the frontof the car opposite the battery, just disconnect it. had the same problem on my 1990 olds 98.
Based on the information you have given to this point, I am just going to give you a few possiblities. Have you had a tune up done recently? Air filter been checked or changed? I am not in any way trying to sound sarcastic so I apologize if I come off that way.Those would be my first things to inspect if I were ask to look at your car. I would also check fuel pressure and inspect the fuel pressure regulator.I would consider these things and go from there.
