I was driving on the highway, seen windshield light come on while driving. Cruise control was engaged if it makes a difference, then all of a sudden my brake light, and battery light came on and stayed on. I seen some white smoke from under the hood. my car near my belts got louder and I smelled burning rubber. I put the car in park the engine shut off. I restarted the car and drove it to work with hazards on and parked it. What could be the problem I checked for codes just the same o2 sensor
If your battery light came on, and you smelled burning rubber, it could be that your belt that drives the alternator, which charges your battery is broken or flipped upside down. Do not drive with the battery light on or else you will stop dead when the battery does not have enough charge in it to keep the car running. If you decide to drive and not follow my advice, then be sure all extra electrical power is off eg. radio, fan, DVD, lights etc.
Testimonial: "Thanks, I turned all that off I got nervous because all the electronics stayed on when the engine shut off. I just got a new car I got 206,000+ on my car."
