YOU'RE GONNA HATE THIS BUT IT DOES SOUND LIKE A FUEL ISSUE. HOWEVER HERE'S THE CATCH.....THE FURL FILTER IS IN THE GAS TANK CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP. YOU HAVE TO DROP THE TANK OR TAKE THE BED OFF TO GET TO IT. AND YOU CAN ONLY GET THE NEW FILTER AT THE DEALER. THE LOCAL PARTS STORE DOESN'T CARRY THESE. BUT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT NAPA, THEY MIGHT. YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO CHECK FOR A VAC. LEAK AROUND THE THROTTLE BODY. LASTLY WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU DID ANYTHING TO THE TRANS.? MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO THAT.

SOURCE: 1985 Ford F-150 Truck (EFI) Fuel Problems

Same problem with my 85 F-150 5.0 EFI---turned out that the fuel pump relay under the hood was teriffically corroded on the inside (I opened up the relay to look inside). When I checked the voltage at the fuel pump it would show 3.5-6 volts instead of 12 volts.

I was thinking fuel blockage or perhaps failure of the in-tank pumps. Sometimes the truck would start and run, othertimes it would neither start nor run. Typically, if running it would stay running until turned off (where the relay had to break).

Changing the green fuel pump relay fixed the problem--12 volts now at the pump and no reoccurance.

Good luck--let me know if this fixed your F-150.

SOURCE: My 1998 ford mustang v6 3.8l .. is hard to start

So what you saying is it's hard to start cold right? Something in computer system not allowing excess fuel to injectors when cold. Probably sensor Get auto electrician to sort it out otherwise you end up replacing things that there is nothing wrong with They got the right gear

it's your upper intake manifold gasket. it has a crack in it and needs to be replaced. your getting to much air and not enough gas. mine did the same thing.

I am having trouble starting my 1991 ford mustang lx 4 cyl 3.2 l when it dose start it runs really ruff and when i put it in gear and press on the gas pedal it does not accelerate but acts like it is not...

I would check the timing could have jumped a tooth on the timing belt/chain. Also check the rotor in the distributer make sure that it is not worn out. I have also seen a plugged catletic converter cause big time power loss and really strange problems

My 1993 lx mustang will trun over but will not start. gets gas got fire, what next?

If it has fuel, spark and compression it has to fire even if it won't start did it jump timing? the belt or timing chain it would still backfire. Have a fire extinguisher
handy After you crank the engine put a rag over the schrader valve and push the pin down like on a bike tire gas will shoot into the rag if it doesn't you are not getting fuel. pick up an inline spark checker and see if it sparks every time the engine cranks over

I have a 2003 ford mustang has no spark i replaced the ignition coil but still no spark,i think it has a bad pcm

does the "check engine " light come on with key on. It should. now try to start car, it should go off. If it does not go off, check the Crank Position Sensor. A bad CMP (Crank Position Sensor) will cause no spark.

Backfiring in the motor, 2000 ford mustang 3.8

Without seeing the car it's hard to tell for sure. First check for vacuum leaks look at the intake system lines and hoses to see there are no breaks or hoses missing. Then check ignition system to make sure wires are not crossed. Also scan computer for trouble codes. Possible mass air sensor problem. Backfiring also cause by bad intake valve or valve timing. Also lean condition when the accelerating. Hopes this helps.

Misses, backfires when going up hills

You are most likely having a coil on plug (c.o.p.) misfire - there are 8 in your engine.
