I suspect that the "O" ring seal around the cable in the transmission needs replacing as the oil is being wound up the cable to the first opening and leaking out.

Can i get a little more information. Is this a steady leak? There shouldnt be anything leaking from that region unless there is water pooling in the air intake for the hvac that has rusted through the fire wall.

I drive a 94 mustang and all of a sudden there is fluids leaking under my driver side dash and ideas???

If it is a standard transmission, suspect the clutch master cylinder to be leaking clutch fluid internally. This fluid is usually clear in color. If it is green, suspect coolant leaking, possibly from the heater core inside the car on the passenger side. If the fluid is red and the vehicle is equipped with a speedometer cable, suspect transmission fluid traveling up the cable and dripping.

1992 subaru clutch peddle stays on the floor. [email protected]

In 199l they were cable so I would look under the dash at the top of the peddle. Wiggle it and make sure everything is connected and not broken. If it is hydraulic there wont be a cable up there it will be a bar going into the cluctch master cylinder. Look for wet look (leaks) around the cylinder and wall. or peeling paint can be a sign of leakage. Then check under hood for fluid in the resivoir. if ok follow the lines to transmission and check clutch slave cylinder on trans. for leakage. Leaking indicates failed part and needs replacing. After repair proper bleeding is required to restore functionality.

Leaking transition fluid from under dash on to break peddles. i think from the speedometer cable

they adapter that the speedo cable attaches to on the transmission is defective, this allows fluid to go up the turning cabe and get on the floor, replace the speedometer cable adapter at the trans.

91 Corolla - Transmission fluid drip...inside!

The gear that is on the side of the transmission has a small seal, where the speedo cable goes into the speedometer take-off unit. When the seal goes bad, the cable drags trans fluid up the inner core. I have changed this device several times for the same symptom. Replace the speedo unit on the side of the transmission.

Power steering fluid leaking.

With the engine switched off. Go under the car and clean of all the fluid you find. Now start the car and turn the steering wheel from full lock to full lock. Switch off the engine and go under the car and you should see the area of the fluid leek. With this information you can then decide how to tackle the repair.

How to install speedometer cable

The vehicle will have to be jacked in the air safely to remove the cable from the trans. Some fluid will come out too,so have a catch basin in place. You have to climb onto the floor board, and lay on your back looking up into the underside of the dash.Locate the speedo cable and follow it up to the speedo head with your hand. When you reach the area where the cable dead ends into the speedo head, feel around for a locking clip or tab.You will either squeeze or lift the tab,and this will release the old cable from the speedo head.Pull the cable through the firewall grommet, and remove the cable.Reverse to reinstall. There may be a plastic gear on the trans end of the cable that has to be removed and reinstalled on the new cable. The gear is removed by removing the metal retainer clip shaped like a horseshoe.Good luck.
