What causes bucking at startup and for about 10 miles in ONLY cold and RAINY weather?

I parked at work last night and the weather was dry at the time. This morning it was 40F and raining. My car started rough and bucked at shifting. It decreases as engine gets warm. I have 140,000 miles on the vehicle. No modifications. NO check engine light came on. The car has done this exactly ONE time before, in identical circumstances. Any ideas what to check first? Thanks!

I asked this guestion last year but got no response. 1998 Mark VIII runs very rough in cold weather. Started it this last spring (cool weather) ran rough. Used it all summer ran fine Please help.

Probably a lean fuel issue . Engine coolant temperature sensor reading warmer than it actually is causing a too lean mixture , restricted injectors, restricted fuel filter , weak pump or bad regulator on return systems causing too low of fuel pressure , Mass Air Flow contamination .

Ford focus petrol 03 plate won't start after rainy night

You probably could use more detail about this problem. Does the engine crank over or is the starter dead? Does this problem happen after the vehicle is parked Dry and then rained on or is the car operated in wet weather and then put away wet leading to the problem the next time you try to use the car?

One thing I have noticed is many under hood fuse boxes seem to line up with the seams of the hood and fender or firewall. With this in mind, a water spray bottle would allow you to wet each fuse area to duplicate the defect. Other things like interior leaks can leave rust trails under the dash.

My 2003 Buick Regal wouldn't start on a very cold day. I came back the next day and decided to shift it out of park and back into park and it started right up. What could cause that to happen? 3800 engine

When you said "it wouldn't start" did it turn over (starter cranking the engine) or did it act like the battery was dead and wouldn't crank, even though all the dash lights lit up?

If it simply didn't crank over but then by you shifting it out of park, then back into park, may indicate a park/neutral switch problem.

It may have been something as simple as the shifter, when the vehicle was last parked, didn't fully engage the park/neutral switch into the park position. BUT by you moving the shifter out and back into park it engaged the switch.

Cold weather can do some strange things sometimes when it comes to mechanical devices. IF it acts up again, simply try the "trick" that worked the last time.

It may just be temperature related and may not give any more problems once the weather warms up.

Hope this helps.

Ford Focus - 2007 Zetec 1600 A high pitch whine is coming from the engine. Occurred yesterday after restarting the car started after a 10 mile drive ad being parked up for an hour in a multi storey car...

Check your power steering fluid level. If it is low that is probably what is causing the noise. The pump is running dry. If that is the problem it means you have a leak somewhere. I have had this issue with my Focus for awhile. I just check the fluid often. I don't fix things until I absolutely have to. Check your manual my Focus uses transmission fluid for the power steering system.

yeah, if you have to tell the shop how to repair the vehicle i would find a better reputable shop. When is the last time you did a tune up? Plugs, fuel filter, air filter, wires. Clean sensors, check intake gasket for vacuum leaks, check vacuum lines for cracks, leaks.
