SOURCE: how to replace water pump on 1995 dodge dakato 5.2 liter V8
When I do those I find it's easier to get some of the stuff out of the way. Fan shroud, Alternator, AC compressor(don't remove AC hoses just swing it over to the side) and the AC/alternator mount bracket. If you don't have the special hose clamp plyers they are worth buying. (those clamps are difficult with regular plyers) The fan clutch has a special wrench which is thinner. When you start the job break loose the fan clutch before you remove the belt. It keeps tension on the pulley. The nut is normal threading and usually comes loose with a sharp rap of the hammer on the fan clutch wrench.
Here is an illustration of the water pump bolts. I hope this helps you out. let me know how it goes.

I have a 2004 4.7 dodge ram that the coolant gauge goes to 3/4 when towing my bass boat in the afternoons on hot days,I had the water pump replaced because it was wobbling at the pulley, covered under 7/70 power train.Acouple of weeks later towing again had the same problem, the turn on the heater and all is well after 2 to 3 minutes, replaced thermostat and saved and re-used coolant dealer put in and problem still there. At this point I contacted the techs at the dealer and talked with them and we all agreed radiator.Removed the radiator and took to rad shop and had it checked, found radiator plugging up,Now as to why.The antifreeze that chrysler uses is a HOAT type antifreeze, hybrid organic acid technology, with silicates and friction modifiers, this antifreeze CANNOT BE USED WITH TAP WATER OR WELL WATER OF ANY KIND,as it states in the owners manual.Only 1 dealer in this area apparently knows this but this is not the dealer that i took it to.The silicates in this antifreeze when mixed with the wrong water type will seperate and and become heavier and then start to gel and plug the passages in the radiator. This truck only has 46,443 miles on it and mostly used just to tow the boat.Hope this helps everyone else with this problem. Will be contacting Chrysler about this and the improper repairs that are being performed at their dealerships.Lester [email protected].

This code means that system to lean, bank 1.
some of the possible causes to make this code set are
1. intake or exhaust leak,
2. problem with the air system.
3. MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor)VAF sensor (Volume air flow sensor)
4. fuel pressure/pump
5. injector(s)
6. HO2S (Oxygen sensor)

I found that the code is set for:
P1740....TCC Solenoid or Overdrive Solenoid performance
which indicates that a rather inexpensive fix is in order, not a complete transmission replacement!! The TCC is the solenoid which controls the locking of the transmission converter so that you get better gas mileage with no "slippage" while at highway speeds, which is normal when the converter is unlocked as you slow down. If it is locked and the solenoid fails to release it the car will stall when you come to a stop since the fluid in the converter fails to act as a clutch and the engine is connected directly to the transmission input shaft. If it never locks then the oil in the transmission will overheat at highway speeds since ther "slippage" will always be present in the converter cauasing frictional heating of the oil.
Whenever you get a quote from a shop ALWAYS get at least two more!!! No matter what the job is, even a muffler replacement get many quotes. Go to a reliable transmission repair shop and ask for their opinion. In my humble opinion the shop that told you that you need a new transmission is just hungry for work - stay away!!!!
