Rear Fuse Block
Important: The transponder values are not readable and can not be serviced separately.
Left rear of the passenger compartment, under the rear seat ! There are a couple of fuse's , but they power up the ignition an the PCM ,so you can't pull those ! Beside that if the PCM does not get a fuel enable signal from the anti-theft module the vehicle won't start . You can't just disable thing's on this vehicle ! If you have security light on steady or flashing you need to take it to someone who has a diagnostic scan tool that can check DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! A code reader can not access these type codes !
Vehicle Theft Deterrent (VTD)Circuit Description
(VTD) Theft Deterrent System Components
Ignition Key (Transponder)
The ignition key for the (VTD) theft deterrent system is a typical ignition key with a transponder pellet located in the plastic end of the key. The ignition key transponder value is used to determine if a valid ignition key is being used to start the vehicle, there are approximately three trillion different transponder values available. This vehicle has two types of ignition keys.
?€¢
Master key (black plastic end) which can start the vehicle and lock/unlock all door locks, all storage compartments and the rear compartment lid lock.
?€¢
Valet key (gray plastic end) which can start the vehicle and unlock/lock all doors, but can not unlock/lock the storage compartments, or rear compartment lid lock.
Theft Deterrent Module
The theft deterrent module contains the software for controlling the VTD System. The theft deterrent module uses the following inputs and outputs to control the VTD system.
Inputs
?€¢
Battery voltage from the underhood fuse block PCM/BATT fuse, circuit 240 (ORN).
?€¢
Ignition start voltage from the ignition switch, circuit 1390 (WHT).
?€¢
Ground, circuit 450 (BLK).
Outputs
Password exchange with the PCM (fuel enable), class 2 message circuit 1807 (PPL).
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
The PCM verifies that the passwords received from the theft deterrent module via the class 2 serial data line are valid. If a password is invalid the PCM disables the fuel delivery system. If the password is valid the PCM enables the fuel delivery system.
Starter Relay
The starter relay is controlled by the PCM module via class 2 serial data (CKT 1807 PPL). If the theft deterrent module measures the correct transponder value, the PCM module switches the starter enable control (CKT 447 YEL) to ground. The relay is energized if the ignition switch is in the START position and the gear selector is in the PARK or NEUTRAL positions.
SOURCE: 2000 VW Passat won't start/car alarm goes off/stuck in anti-theft
My car, 2000VWPassat, is doing exactly the same thing as of Wednesday April 7, 2010. The dealer has been looking at it for 6 hours and they said they have absolutely no clue what is happening. They are elevating it to an "engineer".
SOURCE: anti theft system
there are 2 ways to fix this problem, if the theft indicator is flashing fast when the key is in the ignition your PATS system is enabled, to clear this you need to either diaconnect the battery for ten minutes or bring it to your local ford dealer to clear the codes.

This has to do with the Auto's Computer system and should ONLY be done by a Factory Rep who knows what he/she are doing. not a home mechanic chore!!
SOURCE: 1999 Nissan Maxima will not start up
there is a chip inside your car key
some times gets damage or the car computer gets damage and no longer recognize your key chip
this causes the anti theft system to prevent the fuel injectors to open and the engine will not start because has no gas.
the security light stain on is your hint of what is going on.
I had the same problem on a 99 Nissan Maxima but i got the car running again what you need to do is replace the engine computer and then call a locksmith to reprogram your key to be recognize by the new computer i when to a lot of pain and suffer to get this solve.
before changing any thing make sure the plastic part of the key is not broken, if it is call your locksmith to make you a new one before changing any thing.
NOTE do not use a computer from a salvage yard unless you get to see the actual car it came from
if it came from a car than has the body in one piece do not buy it
its real hard to diagnose this problem and
chances are it came there because of the same problem you have.
if the car looks like it was in a crash the computer is more likely to be good.
but its always best to get it rebuild or brand new if you can.
after you change the computer call the locksmith to get you car key reprogram.
Do not use a computer from a 98 or 2000 because they will not work no mater what the salvage yard tells you they are to make money not to help you so it has to be 99 only.
