Low beam dont work,2003 crown vic

Low beam shut off after a few minutes, now they dont work at all, only high beam work if you hold back on the turn signal stick

If NOT A fomer police vehicle. If you have an AUTO off/on/delay this could be malfunctioning, you may
also need a need headlight switch however, First check your low beam
halogen bulbs if they are bad replace BOTH at the same time they tend
to fail at a similar time and this is the least costly repair NOTE wen
changing these do not touch bulb with bare hand as oils from your skin
can cause the to heat unevenly and explode inside your headlight
assembly Use rubber gloves most Parts stores have these available for this reason

It may also be a bad high/low beam switch.

Usually it's a case of the regular headlights not working while the high beams (brights) still work if you hold them on while driving, but if you have a 1999-2011 Mercury Marquis, Mercury Marauder, or Crown Victoria, and your regular headlights and or tail lights don't work it probably is your LCM that used to cost around $1,000 to repair.

The good news now is that Ford just finally extended the warranty on your LCM (Lighting Control Module) for free - both parts and labor and will install a new one for free! Ford has extended the warranty to 15 years/250,000 miles. THIS IS NOT A RECALL! They do not advertise this.

Your regular headlights must be inoperable in order to get a new LCM on this new extended warranty. It must be done at a Ford Dealer and the fix is free. Call your local Ford Dealer and tell them you need to make an appointment because your headlights don't work and that Ford has extended your warranty on the LCM.

They may act like they don't know what you are talking about, so tell them it is the Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01. Have your car's Vin number ready as they will ask for it. You don't have to be the original owner. If they still act like they don't know what you are talking about ask to talk to the manager or tell them to call Ford Motor Company and ask them, or you can call Ford yourself.

We had ours done at a Ford dealer in August of 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ but first they checked out our LCM first to make sure it didn't work. As soon as they found out it didn't work, the installed a new LCM for free under the about new warranty called "Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01".

There is a resistor in the light control module under the driver side of the dash. You can replace the whole module which is about 100+ dollars or if you're good with soldering, replace the resistor. You will need to remove the box and open it up. Find out the resistor part number and replace it. This is a common problem on the 03-05 crown vics. Good luck

High beams don't work

Hi,

Most of the time when the high or low beams don't work you have a bad dimmer switch. I would reccomend getting it replaced.

My 4.6 idles erratically.

try the following, if that doesn't correct it u may need to replace the air bypass valve.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
