This truck has an old power type ram assist. The steering column only had a 2 3/8 plastic bushing with a small bearing at the bottom and a small bearing inside a rubber sleeve at the top. It also had a auto-turn signal turn off with two dog ears instead of the one dog eared shown in most other diagrams. The column contained one long steering shaft in which the the two bearings held it in place inside the outside column. Can you guys find me a diagram for this truck, I need something with the descriptions and parts numbers, Ford people here just laughed and said it didn't exist and gave me a printout of a 1980 column????
This system was used before there was a move to power steering and collapsible steering columns
the ram type power steering is not power steering in the true sense of the word but power assisted steering
so to get what you want you will have to go back to workshop manual archives or car clubs with veteran or vintage vehicles
many steering systems were made by generic companies (eaton, dayton etc) and the set up was the same across a variety of makes including dodge , international, GM so don't solely focus on ford but more on the steering system manufacturer
