How to remove bottom part of dash 1995 thunderbird

As others already explain, you don't need to remove the lower dash area to replace the ignition switch, but if you need to remove it for whatever reason, you must first remove the color matched part of the dash that lies just below the steering column by removing the three large bolts that secures it to the dash metal frame (located along the end of the cover) and then pulling it towards the seat as parallel as posible to the floor to disengage the clips that hold it to the dash, then you will see the four screws that hold the lower plastic part of the steering column cover, take them out and you're done.

I am attempting to remove/reinstall the Evaporator Core in a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2 coupe. Am I going to be able to do so without removing the entire dash? In other words, will I be able to access...

In order to replace the evap core, you will have to remove the entire dash. A guideline, or general order of parts removal would be:
  • Remove lower panels beneath the dash.
  • Remove the lower dash panel below the steering wheel.
  • Remove the glove box.
  • Remove the radio and bezel surrounding it.
  • Remove the instrument cluster and bezel surrounding it.
  • Lower the steering column.
  • Remove the passenger airbag. Make sure you disconnect the battery for safety.
  • At this point you're getting close you should be able to start removing all the bolts that secure the dash.
Good luck, that's a pretty big undertaking.

How do I remove the fan switch to replace it on the dash under the radio?

Have your radio code before you pull it out with the right radio tool. This pull would involve removing this parts.
  1. Glove compartment
  2. Driver side panel
  3. Center top dash board
  4. Defrost switch carrier
  5. Radio unit
  6. Center lower half of dash
So I'd suggest go to your local public library and look for your car manual. It would be either Chiltons or Clymers manual, it's not as precise a Bentley VW Official factory repair manual. Yes it really involves taking all those parts out just to get to the rotary switch.

Land Rover Discovery I dashboard replacement.

There is a little more to it than that, but not a tough job if you have patience. You will need to remove both 'doors' on the dash-one glovebox, one fuse access panel. on US models, you will need to remove the pass side airbag as well, then 2 bolts that hold a set of relays under the airbag, then 5 bolts that hold a support bracket (also under the pass side airbag-behind glovebox.

Then under the dash at teh outside near the doors, remove 2 sets of 10mm bolts. after than remove 2 sets of 10mm bolts near where the bottom of the dash touches the tranny tunnel. obviously all the center console needs to be removed, and the center panel of the dash, as there are several sets of screws that hold that to the back of the dash.

be patient, take lots of photos of how it goes together, and where the wiring is(was), and this is pretty easy.

Thanks

I need to remove the dash in 2005 chevy silverado

to remove the dash in your truck you will need to dedicate about 8-10 hours. first start with removing your kicker panels, then the plastic covers on your a-pillars. remove the bezels around your instrument panels. you should be able to see some black screws by now, they should be a 7mm some may be a 5.5mm start removing all the screws you can. next you will need to un plug all of your switches, airbags(yellow plugs), 12v accessory plugs, be sure to remove your battery cables before unplugging all of this. your dash cover is a pain to remove so be patient with it or you will break it easily. to remove your dash cover remove the screws in the front and you will have to pop the back of dash up then remove. next you will need to remove your steering wheel/column this is easily done however you will need alot of extensions for your ratchet to do this. after pulling your steering wheel/column remove the four screws by your windshield to remove your sub-dash i believe they will be a 10mm. remove your sub-dash. next you will need to remove the dash support frame, you will need a 15mm and a 10mm socket to do this, i believe there is 5 bolts holding this on. if needed you can remove the black box that holds your fan heater core blender door cab filters and etc... to do this you have to remove the ac hoses coming out of your dryer can going into the firewall, this will bleed out all of your freeon, next remove the heater hoses, now there are 7 bolts or nuts to remove on your firewall, when you remove those you can pull out the black box.

How do you take the dash off of a chevy cavalier

-well you start by removing the covers at each end of the panel. you will see them when you open the doors, they will just pull off.
-then you will remove the defrost grill in the top center of the dash.
-there wil be two 7 mm bolts behind the grill you will need to remove
-each end of dash will have a 7 mm bolt
-open glove box and you will find three black 7mm
-hidden up left in the glove box a square cutout you will find two silver or gold 7mm bolts that will have to be removed. (these two remove the airbag cover.
-once all the screws are removed then just pull the upper dash panel upwards to remove it (be careful of the airbag itself not to puncture it)
-with the top half of the dash off you will find 4 more 7mm bolts holding the facia part of the dash.
-remove these and pull the dash towards you around the heater and radio the dash is clipped in. be careful not to crack the panel.

-reverse procedure to put it back together.
