Have you inspected and tested your shift solenoids? There's 5 of them and you can access them without going underneath the car. The solenoid housing is under the car battery

Will not go in revese

sounds like your transmission fluid and filter needs changed or you may simply need a new transmission you can also try an additive but do not overfill this will cause leaks

Can not revese judders when going forward

First, check the transmission's fluid level for being below level.

The transmission's reverse solenoid may be bad, if it jidders on going forward, the clutches could be worn out in the 1st gear.

At any rate, it sounds like it may need a transmission rebuild if the level is ok and it is malfunctioning this way.

I have a 2003 dodge neon that has a faulty alternator. when the car is running i only have 9.5 volts. can this cause my transmission to not shift from 2nd gear, i can manually put the shifter down to gear...

Low voltage to your electrical system can cause many problems. The best way to eliminate lots of options is to fix the alternator and see if it still has the same problem.

No movement in forward or revese

Your transmission is most likely bad and will need rebuilt.

Check the transmission fluid level and make sure its up where it should be.

1997 nissan pathfinder shuts off right after starting

There is a relay on the rh passenger side kick panel above the automatic transmission module that is controlled by the ECU through the MAF sensor that controls your fuel to the engine so the air / fuel mixture is correct. I fixed a pathfinder one time with a similar stalling problem.
