My 93 accord suddenly died without warning as i was driving. turns over but wont start. many implications, where do i start, and how do i test and eliminate certain possibilities?

Sounds like you damaged the engine by running it without oil. Sorry but you probably need a new engine.

A weak or bad battery will power lights but not have enough current to spin the starter.

Check for fuel, sound's like not getting fuel.

Try Spraying starting fluid into the intake if it starts then dies again you have a fuel delivery problem if it doesnt start then check for spark at the plug wires . If you know for sure that you are getting fuel and have spark both then it could be in the timing belt. But check for these two first.

pull one of the plugs out leave the plug wire on it and rest it on something metal on the car and have someone try to turn it over.if no spark can be seen try changing your crankshaft sensor

The most likely cause of your problem is your alternator and/or battery. You can have them tested at most any auto parts store for free.
One of these two things will fix this type of problem 90% of the time.

check to see if it has spark it sounds like it could be a broken timing belt.

Probably the alternator died, then used up all the power in your battery to keep the car running.
Have your alternator tested and maybe replaced. The battery needs tested also.
