How to fix a car that cranks but won't start. No spark. No fault codes. No engine light. Good battery. It's not a fuel problem. Ignition harness is good.

M/T 43000 miles. Changed ECM and ignition relay, no help. All fuses are good, and fusable links. Ignition condenser checks good. I think its the ECM. The ran great would not start 2 days later.

Why is my 99 Ford F-150 Crank but No Start?

There are several possible reasons why your 1999 Ford F-150 might crank but not start. Some common causes include a faulty ignition switch, a problem with the fuel system, a malfunctioning ignition control module, or a faulty starter motor. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Check the battery: Make sure the battery is fully charged and that the connections are clean and secure. A weak or dead battery can cause the engine to crank but not start.

Check the fuel system: If the fuel pump is not working properly, it can cause the engine to crank but not start. You can check the fuel pump by listening for a humming noise when the key is turned to the "on" position.

Check the ignition system: If the ignition switch or ignition control module is faulty, it can prevent the engine from starting. You can test the ignition switch by turning the key to the "on" position and checking for power at the starter solenoid.

Check the starter motor: If the starter motor is faulty, it can prevent the engine from starting. You can test the starter motor by jumping the starter solenoid with a wire.

If you are unable to diagnose the problem on your own, it's a good idea to have a mechanic check it out. They will be able to diagnose the problem more accurately and recommend the necessary repairs.

Why will engine not start

You have a spark at the plugs, which indicates the ignition system is working.

The engine is cranking over?

If not - or it seems slow to crank - check the earth lead on the battery.

The only other thing that springs to mind is either the crankshaft or camshaft sensor.

Car cranks but wont start? No spark. Changed ecm relay no help. Ignition harness is good. No fault codes. Battery is good. changed ignition relay, no help. I think its the ECM but need more info to spend...

Yes, the ECM is the last thing to replace after all other possibilities. No spark could be bad ignition coil, bad Ignition Control Module (controls the coil circuits for spark), bad plug wires, the crank and cam sensors (for ECM to determine spark timing).

Check the ICM -it can be tested at a parts store. If good, check the crank sensor.

Ignition control module? Bad grounds? Fuel pump relay? Bad compression? Timing chain or belt? Better start troubleshooting and stop throwing parts at it. This could get expensive in a hurry.

Car turns over but wont start

run the fault codes and fix the faulty sensor. use a code reader to reset the CPU from the battery change over.. Get a better mechanic because he should have known that if the engine cranks then the battery is good ( bought a battery for nothing) and the problem is else where ---like the immobiliser ---or key battery---- or cam/crank position sensor

Spray some carburetor into the throttle bore into the engine ,does it start ? pull a plug wire an hold near ground - metal on the engine ,crank it over , is there spark ? Hook up a fuel pressure gauge tet for fuel pressure . Quit guessing as to what the problem is . Learn how to test or take it to a qualified repair shop .

My 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan will crank but won't start.

Hi, if an engine cranks but refuses to start, it lacks ignition, fuel or compression. When the engine cranks normally but won't start, you need to check ignition, fuel and compression. Ignition is easy enough to check with a spark tester or by positioning a plug wire near a good ground. No spark? The most likely causes would be a failed ignition module, distributor pickup or crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.
