Passenger window only goes down a couple of inches and then requires two people to get it back up (one to press the button, the other to push the window with two hands). It wasn't this bad in the past (it would go further down), but it would only go up a little at a time, requiring waiting 10-15 minutes before pushing the button again. Does the motor need to be replaced? What about the regulator? Or perhaps both?

I would have both replaced. My truck had the same problem after a month owning it. Since it was covered by the manufactures warranty, they replaced the whole mechanism with a newer one. If you have the skills to do it yourself, by all means replace the whole mechanism. Problem is with the wire that pulls the window up. It has jumped the track and gotten stuck. You can unstick it, but it probably already damaged the plastic components that make the window go up and down.

I have an EOS VW 2009 and it had 5 window switches in the driver side door to the front windows and back windows and a switch to push all four windows down/up at the same time. But right now my passenger...

Hi Kimberli,

I suspect that since all windows can be powered up and down, you have issues with I believe 2 specific switches you mentioned that have problems - as a result of possible rain water, melting snow / ice or spillage of beverages. You might be able to clean them up - or replace the ones that are "flaky"

Good luck!

How do i know if i need a switch or a motor for my window that i can not get up

Sounds switch related or connector. They're a pain to fix if you are not familiar. If your in a good weather environment you can get a diagram and take patience.

How can i get my passenger side window up in my car

Usually there are buttons for this on both the driver side and the passenger side. I am assuming you tried these and it does not work.

There should be a fuse for these in the fuse box somewhere under the steering wheel side under the dash and there are fuses and relays in the engine compartment too. If the drivers side goes up then they will likely be fine. So, It boils down to the motor for that window. Try pushing the window down with your hand (just a little) don't try to force it down. It should move just about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. then try to press the button to get it up. If that works then you need to consider whether it is important enough to roll down in the future at the risk of it not going back up again. If nothing happens then you can assume the motor or cables are shot and would have to remove the door trim push the window up with your arms and find something to fit between the window and the bottom of the door (on the inside of the door) to prop it up with until you get the motor replaced.

Power window goes up but not down

That tells me the switch is faulty. The switch uses the same power and ground wires in, and reverses the connection out depending on which way the switch is pushed.

Just replaced passenger front window on the 2001 v70. Do not remember if window stops an inch down or does it go all the way down?

I am not exactly sure on this model but most of the time the power windows on the front doors go down all the way. I would check the right passenger side door if it goes all the way down, then most likely the drivers side door should also. Usually the rear windows go down and stop an inch from being all the way down. Some cars are set up to lower the front windows only an inch then by pressing the window down button again, they will continue to roll all the way down.

Passenger window on 94 lumina van

If all the other windows work when the passenger window won't move (during the 5 min period), then the passenger side motor is bad. If the motor pulls too much amperage, the circuit breaker that is built into the motor will trip, until it cools down.
