1992 VW Golf GTI, indicating to turn all turn signal lights flash

When indicating to turn left or right on my 1992 Volkswagen Golf GTI 2E 8valve, all the turn signal lights start flashing as if the hazard lights were activated. Have checked the Flasher unit(relay switch)by replacing and all the fuses and all were in working order. Any ideas as to what next. Please assist.

I have now replaced the Turn signal/Hazard switch on the steering column, but the problem stillpersists where all the lights flash when the turn signal is used. I have noticed that the Turn Signal/Hazard switch arm plugs into the Wiper/MFA arm on the steering column. I have NOT replaced the Wiper/MFA arm could this be the cause of my problem, since the turn signal/hazard switch plugs into the wiper/MFA on the steering column and all wiring is connected to the wiper/MFA arm?
    Please advise.
I assumed that when you said flasher switch on the steering column you were referring to the turn signal/hazard switch is this correct??

after a problem with the fan not cutting in the wiring was rerouted to a dashboard switch to turn the fan on, the hazards did not work whilst trying to solve the hazards the orange relay was moved and now the indicators and brake lights do not work, I need to know if the relay is in the right position please

1992 VW GTI 16v check engine light???

The light has likely burned out. I doubt if someone removed the bulb. Have that checked before hitting the panic button! Any car with computer controls has a light.

Install 1995 vw golf gti turn signal flasher

well, first off, check your fuse. yes, there is a separate fuse for the hazards and blinkers. if that's not it, its possible your relay went. is there, or was there at any point a strange buzzing under the dash for a little bit?

VW Golf braking system

I just did mine on a MK3 GTI, you turn both sides clockwise. DO NOT turn them anti-clockwise. Also, apply pressure to the piston while turning it. Hope you can learn from my mistakes.
