How to check fuel pressure

With a fuel pressure gauge. If there is a test port called a schraeder valve on the fuel rail on top of the engine, it's easy. If no test port, you have to tee off the fuel line somewhere convenient (like right after the fuel filter) and hook your gauge up there. Hook the gauge up, make sure of no leaking, turn key to on, and read the pressure (it will read the same pressure in the line as at the fuel rail). Check pressure with key on, and then with engine running- if at the specs for your vehicle, it's good. If pressure is below specs, pinch off or pull off the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator, and see if pressure raises. If it does, try another pressure regulator. If no change, check the fuel return line for restrictions, check or replace the fuel filter, or suspect a poor performing fuel pump. On MPFI systems the pressure should be about 50 psi, but find the specs for your vehicle.

1995 jeep cherokee stalls regularly and then restarts. problem persists. any answer?

Souhds like you may have a weal fuel pump.Check your fuel pressure if not within the specs replace fuel filter first and if pressure is still low then replace the fuel pump.Your fuel pressure should be 31-39 psi with key on and engine off.

My 2000 chevrolet blazer will not start unless i use starting fluid

Hello, this indicates a weak fuel pump. fuel pressure real critcial on this vehicle. you will need to check the fuel pressure with a mechanical gage at the test port on the fuel line, near the throttle body. here is the fuel pressure spec.

When the ignition is ON and the fuel pump is running, the fuel pressure indicated by the fuel pressure gauge should read 414-455 kPa (60-66 psi

Cylinder number 5 misfire, what is the cause? connected obd II and detected number 5 cylinder misfire?

I'm assuming the code that was pulled is P0305. Best case would be a bad spark plug on the number 5 cylinder. Keep in mind, the spark plugs are torque sensitive when installing. These are the possible causes that are stated in a Jeep service manual for your vehicle. Check the basics first......Camshaft,crankshaft,valve timing or vacuum problem, ignition coil output is low, engine internal mechanical problem, secondary ignition pattern is irregular, fuel contamination, Fuel pressure leak down is out of spec, fuel pump ampere out of spec, fuel pump capacity out of spec, fuel pressure is out of spec., engine compression, PVC system restriction, Fuel injector #5 is defective or the connection on the injector itself is loose or corroded, Intake gasket defective. It could also be freeze frame data in the PCM, but this is a very very rare cause.

1996 Jeep Cherokee, straight 6cyl, new fuel pump and now it is struggling running and pushing to much fuel. How do check fuel regulator, or where is it located? Thanks

the reg is most likely on the fuel rail. perform a pressure test with a fuel pressure gauge. attatch the gauge to the test point on the rail(looks like a vavle stem on the wheel), start engine and measure pressure. you must get the specs for pressure for your vehicle.typicly between 30 and 50 shut the vehicle off and leave the gauge attached. the pressure should hold. is the check engine light on?

Fuel pump

With a vehicle that old I think you should retrofit any pump that matches within reason the original specs as with throttle body injection fuel pressure is critical. If it is the same as South Africa the agent will sell you any **** to get rid of you. Try fitting a Bosch pump with a pressure regulator (set it to spec ). Please change the filter.
