How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 2000 buick park ave with V/6 engine ?

    Calsbiz or Sawdust
    I hesitated to use a socket and standard 16" breaker bar on the bolt in the center of tensioner for fear of breaking the bolt off and a five point wrench is not long enough to give you the leverage you need to move the heavy spring thats in the tensioner. Is that bolt strong enough to hold the stress and pressure leverage that will be applied ??

Firt - study & write down (draw) the belt path,,
and be sure about it..

Then - put a wrench on the nut in the center of the tension pully.. Move the tension pully to loosen the belt.. Pull belt off..

Repeat to put new one on..

Should be pretty easy..

Push down on tensioer pulley with a 15mm box end wrench on tensioner pulley nut.then you can remove belt but you need to hold down tensioner pulley bolt with wrench to remove and replace drive belt.

The cysler 5th Ave. is a 318 400 or 440 the buick is a 455 350 olds or a 350 chev or a 350 buick. 3.8 buick. The 8th number in the VIN will tell your parts store guy and he shoul be able to prvide the belts and the picture of how they go on. Sometimes the picture is on the fan shrould and sometimes it's on the package the belt comes in ( some gates belts that only fit your car.

I need to chance the crank sensor on a '96 buick park ave. 3800 v-6, what am i going to have to take off to do it ?
Passenger tire, passenger inner well cover, serpentine belt, pulley that attaches to harmonic balancer , nut for harmonic balancer, then harmonic balancer. Sensor is screwed to engine. Disconnect battery prior to and before install of sensor. The 3800 has a special balancer puller designed just for it, not sure were you could rent one it is a specalty tool.

How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 2000 buick park ave with V/6 engine/
there is a pic under the hood that showes the corect way to run the belt. over and under diferant pulleys. figure out the corect way it goes and use a breaker bar to pull the tenchenor so you can slide the belt on, then let go slow and your done. the soring holds the pulley at the exact right tension. you can do this it's not that hard... good luck
