SOURCE: code reads P0340 Camshaft position Sensor circuit

That makes the computor think the timing is off. Replace the sensor and see if that does it. You will then have to have the code cleared (erased) or the light will come back on/stay on.

Starter will crank but the van won't start

run fault codes and check for cam/ crank position sensor problem. Check that the cam shaft is turning (broken timing belt/chain). Check that the immobiliser is working as a disconnected battery ( starter replacement) will corrupt the CPU including the alarm systems . Use a code reader to reset the CPU.

Where is the crank sensor on 1996 dodge caravan 2.4L

Hi, the sensor is located on the back side of the engine block, just above the oil pan.
Crawl underneath the engine and look at the back side of the engine block. The crankshaft position sensor is in the center of the block, approximately 10 inches above the oil pan. It is made from black plastic and has a two-wire connector attached to it.

1996 dodge grand caravan 3.3 will turn over but will not crank seems to be no fire to the plugs

It is hard to say with the info posted, it could be related to a number of issues. If you have verified that there is no spark to the spark plugs, it could be the CPS (crankshaft position sensor)

is the idle air control solenoid next to the air intake tube good. did you relearn the cam and crank sensor after installing them. you need a good scantool to do this. try the iac solenoid first. best of luck

Dodge 1996 caravan/engine starts then abruptly shuts off

I would check the iac(idle air control valve) first it controls the idle, and then if it is still acting up you may have to change the crank/cam position sensor

1995 Dodge 2wd Caravan

I would check the cam position sensor and the crank position sensor. Since your year model is 1995, you can't easily get the OBD scan codes like on 1996 or newer with OBD II, but that would help you diagnose your problem.
If the cam and crank sensors do not match, the computer will not send ignition, so this could be the problem.
You can usually find details on how to test the sensors in the Haynes or Chilton manuals for your vehicle or possibly online.
Most of the time a check with a multimeter can verify if they are ok.
