The trunk will not latch close how do i fix it

do you have the striker plate missing? if not i had spryed some WD-40 on my and it worked. if you have striker plate missing try to put some tape,(electrical tape). you can find these parts at cjponypats.com, part #TLSP5 they are about $30 or less

is the trunk lid latched at all

or is latched but not tight

Try Loosening up the latch mechanism with wd40 and then greasing it with a moly type grease

Chances are the striker is now bent from slamming the trunk with the latch latched. My suggestion is take the car to a competent body shop. They might charge a little for fixing it, but wont do further damage.

My Honda Accord latch is broken. I can not open the gas tank door and the trunk won't close. It has to be a problem in the latch because it controls both gas tank door and trunk door
emergency release should be in the trunk as for the closing of the trunk, you need to disconnect the cable at the trunk latch until you can get it fixed

Trunk ajar alarm sounding constantly, even though trunk seems to be closed properly.
the sensor is part of the latch so that will have to be replaced to fix it. Although water has been known to seep into the latch through the key hole (bad gasket) and fixes itself when it drys out.

I have a 2004 chevy cavalier and the trunk latch won't click into place and close fully, therefore the trunk won't close fully.
yes that could be the problem. try this putt your key in to the lock and turn it to unlock it , check to see if latch is open ,while still holding the key in the unlock position close the trunk and relock it with the key while pushing down on the hood at the same time. replace the lock when you can .there is no quick fix for this unless u use a bungee cord for it .

I have a 2001 Buick Lesabre, and my trunk will not stay closed. I don't know if it is my trunk latch or what. how can I fix this prolem?
either the latch is broken, repair parts will be needed, or the catch loosened and needs adjusting. does the trunk close with a motor? have you tried unlocking the trunk? maybe the latch is in the locked position or it's stuck in the latch position. if stuck, turn the key to unlock and pry with a screwdriver

Trunk is broken.
With the trunk open try putting the key in and turning so that the latch swings open. This may be the problem. The latch may be stuck closed. with the key turned make sure the latch is open if it is not then take a scrwedriver and pry on the latch with the key turned to open it. Then try to close the trunk.
