If the belt squeak was the only thing wrong, then clean off the parts and put the belt back on or even better, replace it. If there was a drip from the water pump then you should replace it as well. If the car was just hot from the belt coming off (causing the overflow to leak) then you should not have the problem when you put the belt back on.

Do not drive it or head gasket will fail and will cost you more money to fix i think your water pump broke.

My 1992lumina Euro,We replaced drive belt that broke but new drive belt squeaks, why? how do I fix it?

The belt is not tight enough and is slipping. Or something is not turning and making belt slip. Try tightening the belt to stop squeal.if that doesn't work, take belt off and check all pulleys and make sure they spin freely. Hope this helps

Belt slipped off leaked antifreeze can i replace the belt and still be able to drive it

if there was a coolant leak then the squeak is more than likely the water pump hence the leak, a belt coming off would'nt cause a coolant leak on its own ,i'd get the water pump checked

Why does my mazda 6 squeaks in hot weather

The usual reason is the belt that drives the A/C compressor is loose. Sometimes the issue is a tensioner pulley bearing is worn out. May also be the belt that drives the alternator. When the extra load of the compressor or the current to drive the A/C fans engages, the belt will slip and squeak. Adjust or replace the belt(s).

There is a recurring loud squeak from under the hood. What is it?

May be a worn on loose drive belt that squeaks as the engine idle speeds up as you change gear. Spray the belt with WD40 or similar . If this stops the squeak tighten or replace the belt.

Making aloud squeaking noise under the hood

It's most likely a slipping belt. If the belt is heavily glazed, replace it. If it is a serpentine belt, check the spring on the belt tensioner - it should take a significant amount of force to pull it back to release the belt.

Also, check the tensioner pulley, alternator and A/C clutch bearings while you are at it. If there is any roughness or play in the bearings, this could generate noise.

Squeaking noise and antifreeze leaking....waterpump replcement perhaps?

With the engine turned off, put your finger up behind under the pump pulley. if you find antifreeze there likely the pump seal has failed. Otherwise, locate the leak source and make whatever repair is necessary. You will get a noise any time water or coolant gets on the drive belt. Best to look before going through a pump replacement to find later you have a pin hole in the radiator on a hose!!!

I have a really high squeaking noise coming from my engine now and my water pump has been leaking for awhile but i havent got to it yet but my best guess is that its the belt around my water pump but im...

I would replace the faulty waterpump and belt asap you could cause major engine damage by overheating it . the squealing is either caused by the belt slipping from having antifreeze on it or the water pump may have totally locked up .
