If the car is cold while this happens and you have a rack and pinion steering the seals are bad.
You can try some Lucas brand power steering additive for that available at auto parts stores..

It's a 2006 model - could it be as simple as a pump that's going?

It still sounds like the rack and pinion seals. After the car warms up it is fine?Correct?

Steering pump replaced twice this month. Gone out again.help

Elaine,
1. Heat oxidizes power steering fluid, causes pump failure. Unlikely to overheat this time of year but there could be a restriction on pressure side of system causing it to overheat.
2. Many mechanics use "power steering fluid". Some systems require specialty fluids, Mitsubishi and VW come to mind. Google the type of car you have and power steering fluid and see what it comes up with. If wrong fluid has been used make sure it is flushed out and new fluid is added.
3. Chinese parts and or bad installaitons. It happens.
Hope this helps.

My key is stuck in my ignition. It has happened twice before and come out a week later, now it has been a month and I have tried to make sure it was in park, nothing happens. I do not know what to do.

the lock cylinder is bad. you will have to replace the ignition switch where the key goes. It involves removing the steering wheel. I just did this on another vehicle. you must unhook the battery or it is possible for the airbag to deploy when removing the steering wheel. Autozone has a tool and instructions on how to do it.

Starter turns but no ignition, PK3 M security

I have an 03 montana intermittant no start, security light flashes at the time of no start. Under the steering colom is a plug that comes fron the ignition with 4 wires pink , orng , blk, ppl. follow the wires and there is a plug. Try unpluging it then plug back in and try to start vehicle. If it starts then what i have done with it was wire in a relay that cuts power on ignition off and will power the module up on ignition.

blk to # 85 on relay, cut orng and attach one to # 30, the other to # 87, then attach pink to # 86. I have this working for 3 months so far no more intermittant start.

2005 equinox the intermittant power steering issue

The power steering is on this vehicle is electronically assisted. Meaning it does not have a power steering pump. The electric motor could be going out, pulling too much current at times, and tripping the breaker. The best thing to do is take it to the dealer, and have them inspect it.
