If you are referring to the oil pressure caution light (I don't think the 2004 PT Cruiser had an oil change monitoring system), you don't reset it. If it's on, you either have very low oil pressure or a bad oil pressure switch. DON'T DRIVE WITH THIS LIGHT ON. Get it checked out and properly repaired, or you will destroy the engine.
Yes, changing the oil will help, however, you will also have to clear the "change oil" light. Either figure out what buttons to press to delete that, or go to an auto parts store and ask if they can help you reset it.
The oil pressure warning light comes on to warn the driver the oil pressure in the engine has dropped below 10psi. The reason could be the engine is low on oil, or there is a problem with the oil pump or other internal engine component. The oil pressure switch could also be faulty.
the oil light is coming on due to sensed low engine oil pressure, this is not a level issue unless u are about 3 quarts low, oil pressure indicators don't leave any computer codes, so who ever told u that is wrong, u need to test the oil pressure with a mechanical gage when the oil light is on, until U need to confirm that u don't have a real pressure issue here or you can burn out the engine bearings, if the pressure checks ok then rplace the oil pressure light sending unit in the engine.
look for the oil light switch ,then see if it has a rubber boot over it ,if it has pull it back and see if any oil inside the boot .If their is renew the oil light switch its leaking a little and the oil inside the rubber boot is causing the light to come on
I have no idea how many miles are on the van but 1st lets talk about the oil lite, it is telling u that the engine has less than 10 PSI of oil pressure, this may be the pressure sending unit on the engine is defective, if it does have low oil pressure then severe damage to the engine bearings can result, the click is most likely the contacts in the starter solenoid are burnt, they act up more cold and give the click you hear. I have no idea about the steering issue, without hearing it is almost imposs to diagnose such concerns. In closing I highly recommned that you address the low oil pressure concern ASAP
