I must admit the thermostat, if it where stuck open it would cause poor heat performance. Before condeming the thermostat first check the coolant level. You could also check the heater hoses at the firewall if one is hot the other is cold you have a clogged heater core. There is also the possibility that the blend door may not be switching due to a bad actuator miss adjusted, even a blown fuse.
It sounds like your thermostat may be stuck. this is an inexpensive and fairly easy part to replace on your own. just go to your local auto parts store and tell them what your problem is and they'll be able to get you the right part and a service manual that will explain it all. Some of them also rent tools if you need them.
