The vent in the filler neck is more than likely sticking. That is if you are having trouble filling the tank up, or if it fills too slow. Also is there a check engine light on? Try and describe the problem when filling tank. ie: tank fills slowly, cannot fill tank, gas splashes back when filling.

You really need to include more info. However if the tank is not filling up or taking gas slowly the vent check valve is sticking, this is located in the filler neck.

Why does the gas pump cut off every 1/2 to 1 gallon on my 2003 Hyundai Accent, at slow pump even when the tank is nearly empty. It doesn't matter what station I go to.

Failure in the Evap System

Check for Evap Codes & diagnose that system

Most likely a failed evap vent solenoid

Google : OBD PO446 thru PO449 & read up

The gas tank fills slowly and turns off the pump

some cars do not allow refilling the gas tank too rapidly. If slightly turning the handle of the pump filler when pumping doesn't help, maybe there's another problem. Has this always been the case, or has this issue just started recently?

Check engine light with "gas cap" code is on and gas tank from time to time overflows after fill up. What could be the problem?

You need to have the Evap System properly
diagnosed, to find any issues ,never install parts
to resolve any vehicle issues

You find the problems first

Any evap leak or loss of pressure, could set the gas
cap light
That doesn't mean it is the problem with the system

When I go to fill my car with gas, the pump keeps shutting off. Takes forever to fill the tank. Someone said that the overflow vlave float was not working or was stuck. Is this true? What is the...

You have an EVAP System Valve --- not a float, that
is a solenoid, that has failed to open, so you can fill
your fuel tank

I have to hold the gas pump to put gas in my car. Is there air in the tank?

You have an EVAP System Malfunction that will
not allow you to fill the gas tank

There are several electrical solenoid type
valves in the system, one has failed

When you fill your tank all air is recovered by
the hose your using to fill it & put back in the
ground storage tank, not into the air

The failed vent valve in the EVAP System prevent
air out

2002 chevy cavalier p0440 and service light is on

that is fuel tank evap related code.
It can be caused by simply removing the gas cap while the engine is running.
Dont get too concerned with this code if you think you may have opened the cap while car was running, the computer will soon turn the light off if all is well.
Other things Like ta cracked or faulty gas cap, The evap purge canister or hoses loose or cracked, filler neck hoses loose or cracked ,damaged orings on evap sensor. could also cause this code.
They often use a special smoke machine to diagnose leaks in the tank and evap system.
The special machine fills tank with smoke at 2 psi making it posible to spot leaks.
Hope this helps.
If it does dont forget to leave a comment.
