I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. My car battery died the other day I charged the battery in the car and it ran for while, I turned it off but when I went to crank it would not start. I replaced the battery and alternator and now my inside lights will not turn on and the SRS indication light won't leave the dash and I have a slow take off. My car is straining to take off and I can see my light flicker. What could be the problem? ???

I did it myself earlier. The day before I tighten the alternator pulley and then all of a sudden my alternator went out. When I replaced the alternator today the SRS light came on and then my lights inside won't come on. Could my belt be too tight?

Who did the work? If you double, triplecheck your work. Sounds like some bad connections battery, alternator. Maybe even Alternator belt alingnment.

Hello i have 2001 Mitsubishi montoero sport to day took the battery out and now when i try to start it, it runs for a second or two then goes off

disconnect the battery again, with it disconnected press hold the brake pedal for 30 seconds, leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes. reconnect battery, turn key from off to on and wait 2 minutes, start the vehicle (don't touch the gas or brake for 5 minutes) this is what I did on my friends montero and it started right up and ran fine, only thing I could figure is that I caused the computer to reset and recalibrate itself, but i'm not real sure. worked for him maybe it will work for you... good luck

2003 montero sport. will not idle since battey boost

sit with foot on gas at steady 3000 rpm, then turn on all your lights, hazard warning lights, heater, and window defrost, if the power drops , then you need a new battery....sometimes the battery power can control the engine idle, the alternator is only for charging the battery, not for running the cars electrics, this is the battery's job

Engine keeps dying after I turn it on.

I had the same problem when I did battery maintenance on my 1988 Montero Sport. The problem was explained to me, that the car's electronic pollution control computer data was erased when the battery is disconnected or the battery totally discharges. The car's computer uses this data to regulate idle speed and other engine factors. The solution given to me was to recheck the battery connections (make sure they are clean, and tighten down), start the vehicle, and just let it sit and idle for about 15 - 20 minutes (without racing the engine or driving the vehicle). This will rebuild and repopulate the car's computer engine data it needs to make adjustments. Hope this helps.
Mark.
