Since both ends of each vacuum line is important, it is imperative that you connect the correct line to the correct ports. A Chilton's manual for your vehicle will contain a vacuum diagram. Generally in today's cars these look a lot like someone threw a plate of spagetti on a picture of the engine; but with patience and not getting frustrated, you should find exactly where those disconnected lines should go.

More than once I personally have had to remove all the vacuum lines and start from the beginning to get them all back in place. This is one reason your mechanic gets 'the big bucks'.. Good luck.

2001 jeep grand cherokee larabo 40 vacumm line broke going thru fire wall looking for a fix that doesnt require removing the hole box

That would be the vacuum line going to the heater/AC control head, so you could pull out the HVAC controller, find the main vacuum line coming from the engine, and splice, with new connectors and new line as needed, the line back together.

Heater control will be set on defrost but air comes out panel or switches. floor air is very little.

Sounds like you probably have a bad vacuum line on the back of the heater control. If you remove the heater control from the dash, you will find a vacuum hose cluster attached, you may either have a vacuum line that has come loose or one that has a hole in it. If you don't find either of these problems, then you may have a bad heater control, but I would look for a bad vacuum line first.

2006 Grand Prix Heater blows cold air only

The blend door is probably what is keeping the air from blowing across the heater core and picking up the heat. I hope your manual gives a description and procedure for it.

The blend door actuator and other heater case doors will be either vacuum operated with a few canister diaphragms situated around the heater case, or they may be operated with electric motors. If you pull off the lower sound insulator panels below the dash, you can see the bottom of the heater case, and then find the actuator for the blend door. If vacuum operated, check for vacuum. The vacuum for the heater/AC controls comes from a single line from the engine, through the firewall, and into the back of the control head or to a control module. Then, many vacuum lines branch out from this central point to the canisters- the heater/AC controls will direct vacuum to appropriate actuators, or servos.

Vacume line diagram for 2001 dodge grand caravan looking for the line that runs to the ac / heater,

It sounds like vacuum is not getting to the vent, heat and A/C controls. Find the vacuum can. It may be under the hood on one of the inner fenders. Trace the lines back to the vacuum block at the intake manifold or fire-wall, and also back to where the line goes thru the fire-wall. Check the can for leaks or obvious holes. They used to be just a plain metal can, but it could be a plastic ball. Check the lines as you go for breaks and rub-thru's. Move the controls thru all settings and listen for vent door movement. (Run the engine momentarily to build vacuum in the system.) Worst case is a bad vacuum motor or air flow position selector switch.

We have a 1997 Dodge Intrepid. Heater, defroster blows ice cold air. Where is the vacuum line to open and close the warm air, cold air door in the heater system? It seems to be drawing cold air from the...

The Intrepid doesn't have a vacuum line. It uses a electric motor called a "blend door actuator". It's located on the underside of the heater box near the center of the car.

Where would I locate the 'air difuser' or where to look to see if the vacuum line for the a/c has come off or not?

The air diffuser is actually a vent where air inside the car gets forced out when the blower motor is running. It's usually behind the rear bumper or the trunk area. It's like blowing up a paper bag that has a hole in the end to let air out.

The vacuum line comes from the engine manifold and goes through the firewall to the heater control head. There is also a tee in the line that branches off to a vacuum reservoir that provides vacuum when going up steep hills, so the system does not default to defrost.

A/c comes out of front defroster. I also found a vacuum hose lose near the front firewall and I cant find out where it goes.

I tried to give you a vaccum diagram but the manufacture will not release that info to outsiders. you need to find where the hose goes to.if you loose vac to the controls it goes to defrost mode.
