My 2007 VW Passat stereo will not take a CD. Keeps saying CDC hardware error. How do I fix this?

Typically that means that the unit needs to be replaced. On rare occasions, the dealer can reset it and on an even more rare occasion it could just have a cd stuck (but not normally).

Take all of the cd's out from the player. Than put them back in , it should reset. I had similar problem with my cd's and this solved the issue. My car is a 2001.1 glx passat . Good luch

im not usally good in this subject but is there a stuck cd in it? it could be a wire that has shorted out too. srry im not really good with auto but good luck

HI,
Passats can be reset if the radio is pulled out and the fuse on the back is removed. Wait for 2 mins, reinsert the fuse and turn the radio on. If this doesn't work, please take it to the dealer for the unlocking of the code, for which he may charge you some fee.

local stereo shop will send it to the proper tech usually or offer a new stereo witch is somtimes cheper

SOURCE: i have a 2007 mercedes

burnt cd's are 1.3mm thick. a non burnt cd is .9 - 1mm thick. they get stuck, it happens all the time. why now? just unlucky.

2007 Toyota Camry When I put disk in the CD player after about 30 seconds of it flashing saying reading disk it then shows an ERROR 1!?? Any help??? Thks

It can be dirty or faulty disk,but if that's not the case the problem relates to cd player lens.Its not reading the disk.The inside lens which reads and detects the cd is either got dirty or its faulty and unit has to be replaced.-------So whether is dirty lens or faulty that can be confirmed once the unit is inspected.Try running lens cleaning cd in your cd player unit and see if that is helping.========For more help i suggest refer the help links mentioned below:------

My Ford Ka radio/ 6000 CD RDS EON doesn't work.

It can be the problem with cd player mechanism,on many cases just removing the cd player system out of dash and servicing the unit helps to take care of such problems.

I have a passat 2006 fsi. The Parking breaks wont release after pressing the release button

I had the same problem on my Passat Variant 2007.
Randomly Park Brake won't activate and/or deactivate once button PB pressed.
The cockpit computer tells "Park Brake Error" (or something similar).
If this is your problem, the issue is very well known to VW Service centers.
I had solved it by bringing the car to the Service: The told me that they substituted the ParkBrake Button (a differently made one, even if identical on the exterior) and Reprogramming (Updating) the car computer software.
