What parts will interchange between these two cars i have 2 1998 pontiac Grand prix one is a gt with a 3.8L motor the othe one is a GTP with a 3.8L super charged motor and i want to take apart the gt to make the GTP a better car and i need a tranny, speedometer, windshield wiper motor will these parts interchange please help thanks
SOURCE: i took my 2002 pontiac
The wiper motor is located under the plastic air intake at the base of the windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle. It is not too hard to get at and you will need to remove at least the lh wiper arm. It is very possible it is a linkage problem and not the motor (the arms pop off their sockets sometimes on these cars) Take the plastic cover off and you will see the arms and be able to tell if they are disconnected or not.
SOURCE: Can I take a super charger out of a Grand Prix GTP
Well, the short answer is "yes". But - it isn't nearly as simple as just bolting the supercharger onto the intake and VOILA!, now you're supercharged. The procedure that you're inquiring about is commonly referred to as a "top swap", and there are numerous parts you will need for both engine as well as the transmission. Why the transmission? Because the GT and GTP use different gear ratios and the GTP has a 4T65HD as opposed to the 4T65E that is in the SE/GT. You will also need to have the PCM reprogrammed to accomodate all of these changes.
HERE is a great website that has a ton of very useful information, regarding this and many other Grand Prix topics.
Hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa!
SOURCE: 1998 Grand Prix GTP windshield washer (full) not pumping fluid
Not difficult to remove inner fender liner (screws around wheel well opening and sometimes a few more)
Pump is available from most auto supply stores and easily installed in tank. Check power at the motor before removing it to make sure the motor is bad and the problem isn't somewhere else.(if no power there problem can be solved as easily as using a push button to get it powered up and as complicated as replacing the multi-function switch...pretty much your choice)
