There is a shift lock button located next to shifter. Look for a small cover and remove it. You may use flat head screw driver if you don't have shift lock tool. These will free you shifter. Try starting on neutral using break.

It might not be the pump.. If it works in reverse - the pump should be working.. There could be damage to the bands.. It also could be the modulator or electronic components inside the trani..
If you have not done trani work befor - I would avise taking it to a trani shop for diognosis.. Allot of them will give a free estimate..

make sure the belts are tight, the alternator belt is usually the noisey one but check them all. hope this helps.
