if that 2000rpm is start up from cold,,,its still a bit high! but only a bit,,,should be nearer 1500rpm cold out of gear,,,,
when warm it should run at about 850---900rpm-----out of gear-
950rpm for an auto out of gear,,
in gear an auto will drop to about 850rpm so that the motor wont stall when holding the brakes down i would take the car back,, but they may wont it over night so they can set the revs up from cold,,i have a felling that auto choke is still playing up a bit
ok..you must have more than one car???? you don't drive the 300 atall im guessing. #1 start car drive up the road and \back to your house. #2 let it idle till problem starts. #3 once it does start with the problem keep it alive with the gas pedal. #4 once your have it safely from dying in higher rpms "rev it" like a kid would, you know like if you were gonna race some one lol. be careful not to over rev or damage engine. you should do this for five minutes no longer than that. #5 let it idle for another 5 minutes. #6 repeat every day until problem with idling decipates. it took mine 3 300e like 3 days of this. if your not going to drive the car once you get the problem out of the way. turn the car on everyday and let it idle for 5 minutes atleast and take it for a short drive once a week. they get lonelly you know lol. later on you can just turn the car on every 2 -3 days and let it idle but still take it on a short drive atleast once a week
ford has what you would call a hunting idle problem. check you vehicle to see if it was manufactured by ford or mazda. if on a ford drive train recomend that fix.
Actually in most cases this would tell me a a dirty/defective IAC Idle Air Control valve , these have dropped in price to about 55 buck either that the EGR valve is sticking
check your Throttle Positioning sensor that should fix your rough idle the TPS controls the breather on the front of the engine its affixed to the right hand side of the throttle body just infront of the spyder on the V6 Vortec 4.3L Models
a rough idle/high idle is indicative of a malfunctioning TPS(throttle position sensor) this is located on the throttle body ,is attached with (2) screws/bolts to the throttle body housing right off the butterfly shaft. it has either 2 wire or 4 wire plug. the replacement part can be purchased at locale auto parts store. I would also agree that a full service and tuneup be done. this will help with performance and will increase the fuel efficiency. please rate this...thanks
