Use NGK plugs. And oil should be precicely what the manufactures reccomends, listed on the oil fill cap. When the vehicle starts to use some oil, consider high mileage blend, again at the SAME viscocity, NOT HEAVIER EVER. The high mileage does reduce consumption and with Casteroil you get semi synthetic...
Any engine can use synthetic oil. I would reccomend using a popular brand like castrol syntec that you can find anywhere. Also you need to make sure that you never go back to using regular oil. It's synthetic or nothing!
engine oil?? any multigrade i would recomend that you use the cheapest petrol/diesel oil from a supermarket then change oil every 6000m and a oil filter every third oil change this will keep the inside of the engine clean and free from gunk and muck which can block the oil pick up pipe filter and cause the engine to seize
I have a 99 M3. BMW serviced it for the 1st 3 years and the engine blew up...oil issues.
use a heavier weight oil than the manual suggests. ideally
10w40 or 10w50 even 15w50 if you're in a hot spot
if you're in a cold winter environment, then use 5-50 synthetic. avoid parking on hills in cold weather.
Its in the owners manual but if memory serves 5w30 type is the reccomended oil. Any brand is good but do remember to change it regularly at 3000 miles..
I know E46's use ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluids) for their power-steering systems. BMW Reccomends to use a common Dextron III / Mercon Automatic
Transmission Fluid.
