How do I check the transmissn fluid

Year/make/model?? Standard/auto? Some automatics are equipped with a stick for checking fluid level and some have a plug you remove to verify fluid level. Standard transmissions will normally have a plug that is removed for inspection on the side of the transmission

Where do you check the tranny fluid on a 1984 subaru gl standard transmission. What fluid do you put in, and do you check it while its hot or cold?

The standard manual transmission??? There should be a bolt/plug on the side of the transmission to check the fluid level.

Where is transmission fluid locted in a 1990 mazda protege

I would ask Standard or automatic since the vehicle came with both as an option but it really doesn't matter. The fluid is located in the Transmission itself. If you have an automatic there is a dip stick located near the firewall under the hood you can use to check the fluid level with. If it is a Standard or manual transmission you will have to locate the check fill plug on the transmission under the vehicle to check the fluid level with the end of your finger.

Cant find the dipstick on a standard jeep liberty 2003 to change the transmission fluid

The transmission fluid stick is usually toward the back of the engine. That's right where the engine transmission connect together. It should also be labeled transmission on top of the stick. To check transmission fluid level, you need to let it run about 5 minutes on a level surface, then check the level. When you check it,if you see little metal flakes on the stick, there is something very wrong with your transmission.Good luck! Replacing transmission fluid in standard

The manual transmission in the Ford Escort uses transmission fluid, it is checked and filled in the same hole. That hole is where the speedometer cable is hooked up to the transmission. Remove the speedometer cable, set aside, then remove the locking bolt that holds the speedometer drive unit in place. Pull up on the drive unit and it will come out, look on the side of the drive unit and you will see the level indicator line for full and add. Fill as needed and reinstall the drive unit and cable. Hope this helps, let me know.
