Alternator brushes could be the issue.
*some dirt on them or wrongly located brushes,
*lenght of brushes are out of limit
also,
*bad electrical connection from alternator to the car body
*(low possibility but still..) dislocated alternator armature, bad bearings (can make kind of sounds)

Due to the alternator problem its weakend the battery and eats it up finally, immediate fix adviced.

Is there anything I can diagnose '91 volvo 940 turbo myself? Mechanics say can't find anything wrong with car. It stall like losing power fuel pump relay & ignition fuse get hot sometimes

the pointer is the hot ignition fuse
that indicates excessive current draw almost to the point of blowing the fuse
with the car stalling ( stopping /cutting out) I would be focusing the attention on the electronics of the vehicle in areas of the ignition control module or the ECM itself
there could be components that ore overheating and failing or shorting and overheating and failing
The ECM you can test by getting a known good unit and substituting it and the ignition control module can be like wise replaced or checked by an accredited auto electrician who has the test equipment
Lastly you can go to autozone and see if the fault codes can be read ( free) or to an accredited service shop that has experience on volvo cars ( may cost for the reading) and fix what faults show up

I think I have a bad alternator on my 1992 volvo 940 turbo

Hi!
Start by charging the battery completely. Then, start your car and while running, remove the NEGATIVE battery cable from the battery. If the car dies, your alternator is bad. If it keeps running, reinstall the battery cable and turn the car off. Check for something that's on that would drain your battery like a light in the trunk, glove box, etc. that wont shut off.
