did you reset the computer when you put the new switch on it?? - I was told the best way to do this is unhook the ground side of the battery (then the hot side) while the new part is being replaced then hook the hot side back up first then the ground side!!

Before replacing parts there is a specific way to start diagnostics an a professional grade scan tool is a must ! a code reader can not access the body control module , or the EBCM - electronic brake control module or instrument cluster ! All these modules communicate on the class 2 serial data bus.
Begin the system diagnosis with Diagnostic System Check - ABS . The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information:
?€¢
The identification of the control modules which command the system

?€¢
The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit

?€¢
The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status

The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
The traction control switch is a input to the body control module, with a scan tool hooked up an looking at BCM data ,check for conformation the traction control switch is turning on an off !
SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM The IPC illuminates the SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM indicator in the message center when the electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM indicator illuminates for 60 seconds when the condition is present. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
TRAC OFF The IPC illuminates the TRAC OFF indicator when the following occurs:
?€¢
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system due to a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination.

?€¢
The body control module (BCM) detects that the traction control switch has been pressed (signal circuit is low). The BCM sends a class 2 message to the EBCM in order to disable traction control. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The BCM sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.

SOURCE: 2005 impala ls the abs light and the traction control light comes

You'll need to have the codes read from the computer. You will have a code that indicates one of the front wheel sensors is bad. This could be the case, but they are very expensive as they are built into the wheel bearing assemblies. It is more likely that the wiring harness between the frame and the part of the front spindle that holds the harness, has broken internally. It is a very common problem and can be repaired with a new wiring harness section or by tracking down the fault and repairing it.

SOURCE: abs and traction control

hi if you know for sure it's a wheel speed sensor
remove that wheel
remove the caliper and caliper bracket
remove the brake rotor
there are 3 bolts on the other side of the knuckle(13mm)
remove them
remove the axle nut(1 5/16)
remove the hub bearing assembly(you may need to use a hammer on the hub flange)
hope this helps

Question moved to 'year make model' category.

There is no Traction control Fuse. That function is controlled by the BCM and ECM. Try cleaning Throttle Body and MAF.

2005 Impala 3.8L LS with service traction light on dashboard

It's usually the sensor inside the wheel hub or the wiring harness to the brake controller. The service traction light will set a trouble code. If your mechanic is stumped, authorize him to call a GM tech support line. The call is $50, but the GM tech support can help him figure out what's wrong.

Have a 2004 Chevy Impala recently purchased used.

sounds like you have a wheel hub out causing the lights to come on. odds are it would be the front left. it's not sensing right causing the traction control to be turned on. or it could be a loose wire for that hub. gm cars has had a problem with these two issues.

Impala - trac off and ABS light along with service traction syst

THE PROBLEM IS WITH A HUB WHEEL SPEED SENSOR OR MORE LIKELY THE HARNESS LEADING TO THE HUB.

CHECK THE RESISTANCE AT THE HUB CONNECTION, IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN 900OHMS AND 1300OHMS. THEN SWITCH TO A-C VOLTAGE, IT SHOULD BE 100MV WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL BY HAND. IF BOTH CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE WIRING TO THE HUB.

THE RIGHT FRONT HUB USUALLY HAS A BEND, DOWNWARD THEN UPWARD NEAR THE CONNECTOR TO THE HUB. THAT IS WHERE THE PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS.

NEW HARNESS WIRES CAN BE BOUGHT AT THE DEALER.
