SOURCE: How do i get specific instructions to change the turn signal relay switch behind steering wheel need to know how to remove hard cover without breaking it

The only way I could help is to recommend a Haynes manual for your make, model, year of your car. Usually a public library would have one you could borrow or local auto parts store you would have to buy by it tells you step by step.

My horn isn't working on a Chevy equinox but it's a new horn. What could be wrong with it..and my cruise control don't qork. Is it my steering wheel?

Was Cruise Control working before the New Horn was installed? The power supply to the Horn, (input to ground wire) is connected to the Cruise Control Module (CCM). This CCM is wired to the Relay Switch Box located in the Engine Bay. The Relay Box cover will have a Chart indicating what function each Relay coresponds to. Your local autoparts store (AutoZone) can test the Relay Switch, and you'll know (if any Relay) need to be replaced.

The CCM is also wired to the Steering Wheel, but first passes through the Clock Spring Coil, located just behind the Steering Wheel. The Clock Spring allowes for the Function Buttons on the Steering Wheel to have power while Steering Wheel spins.

The Clock Spring can malfunction or break, its rare, but this will cut power to the Function Buttons on Steering Wheel. If ALL the buttons on Steering Wheel dont work, then the Clock Spring is the Culprit. The Coil may need to be replaced.

The Cruise Control Module itself may have failed and also would cause a few or all Steering Wheel Functions to quit working.

But first check the Relay Switch Box and examine the Harness Cables connecting (Steering Wheel--to--CCM--to--Relay Switch Box--to--Battery Supply).

Also if Cruise Control was working before the new Horn was installed and now not working, then most likely the Problem is a bad wire connection somewhere and/or is a faulty Relay.

I have a 2001 rodeo I lost the key and had to punch out the ignition, to startup. Do I have to remove the steering wheel to get the lock cylinder off or not or is there another way without removing it

Should be able to without taking the entire steering wheel off. Next time call a locksmith and have them cut a new key on site. Save you a big trouble later

Where is the horn relay located on a 2007 ford edge sel

It is located in the SJB - smart junction box an it is a non- serviceable part . soldered to the board inside . Where do you hear the clicking noise coming from ? The SJB is located behind the left side kick panel .
SECTION 413-06: Horn 2007 Edge/MKX Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 10/30/2006 Horn The horn system consists of the following components:
  • Horn switches (part of the steering wheel)
  • Clockspring
  • Horn relay (part of the smart junction box [SJB])
  • Horn
For removal and installation of the steering wheel, refer to Section 211-04 .
For removal and installation of the SJB, refer to Section 419-10 .
Principles of Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) supplies the control and switched voltage to the horn relay (part of the SJB). When the horn switches (part of the steering wheel) are pressed, ground is supplied through the clockspring to the horn relay. The horn relay is then energized directing voltage to the horn and enabling the horn to sound. When the vehicle security system is armed, the SJB provides a momentary ground to the horn relay control side to indicate the system is armed, and an on and off ground when an intrusion is detected or the panic alarm is activated.
If your horns are not working ,you have a wiring problem or the clock spring is open . If the relay is bad the whole SJB has to be replace an the dealer would have to do that . Needs to be programmed ,with factory tool .
Symptom Chart Condition Possible Sources Action
  • The horn is inoperative
  • Fuse
  • Circuitry
  • Horn
  • Clockspring
  • Steering wheel switch harness
  • Horn switches (part of the steering wheel)
  • Smart junction box (SJB)
  • Go To Pinpoint Test A .

Change ignition switch

If it is on the steering column you will need to remove the steering wheel and the plate behind it. Then remove the screw are it may be a slide pin but ether way remove it , that is what hold the switch in the steering column . Replace in reverse order. By the way if you dont have a steering wheel puller go to auto zone they will rent you one believe me it will make taking the steering wheel off a lot easier. Good luck.
