You are talking about interior lights, right ? As long as the on-time is under a minute or two, its normal. The lights are supposed to go off as soon as you start the van tho.
Never rely on the door switch to shut off the lights. That is always an extremely unreliable system on any car. Whenever you shut a car off, turn off everything. That includes radio, AC, fan, etc. Otherwise you are putting a great strain on your battery when you next try to start it.
is the switch in the door bad?leave the key in the ign does the key chime go off before you open the door i think that model the switch is built into the lock assembly
Check the light switch on the dash and see if it is turned on for the dome light, if so turn it off and the dome light should go off. Check if the dome light it self has a on/off switch button on it. If this was not the problem, check the push button switch at each door by opening the door and holding the button in, if you have a delay light system on your car, you will have to hold the button in for awhile till it kicks the dome light off. If this did not fix the problem, remove each door switch and unplug the wire going to it, use a volt meter to check if the switch works on and off when you push the button in and out, if the switch is bad, replace it, you can buy them at a local auto parts store or dealer. If the switch was bad just leave the wire unpluged till you can replace it, this way the dome light should go out
the dome light switches are part of door latches.bring truck to a dodge dealer and on their scan tool they can tell which door latch is not working.i work at a dodge dealer .
Check all switches on doors (push-in button) located usually on door post, or in jamb area by hinges. Do 1 at a time with your door open & use your thumb or finger to push it in and see if interior lights go out immediately. Good chance one will be a little temperamental which will tell you which one is at fault. If there's one that you have to push in further than others before light goes out, that's more than likely the one causing the trouble.
