Have a look at the fuse. If its all black and you see small bits inside you have a dead short in the circuit. Check the wiring for any metal to wire contact, especially at any points where wires touch any metal. If its just melted in the middle but did not blow violently its overloads the circuit is drawing too much current for too long, look for fused contact or stuck relay etc.

The car is running and will shut off by itself. This is a usual symptom of a fault in the fuel system. A number of reasons contribute to this 1) there is no fuel or wrong fuel type, 2) dirty fuel filter, and 3) the fuel pump is failing.

From the description you provided, a drop in power means not enough fuel is injected to be burned by the system. This points towards a failing fuel pump.

Have this checked out by a qualified technician if you are unable to do it yourself.

Hope this helps.

Brake lights don't work on my 2003 Deville DTS . The third brake light does not work either .

First check your owners manual for fuse box location and check for any blown fuses. Next check the brake peddle under the dash for a switch, which is mounted to the peddle arm and turns on the lights when the peddle is pressed in. If the switch has worked loose and is not being pushed when you are pressing the peddle the lights will not come on. Hope this helps Fix Ya up.

1998 Nissan Pathfinder break lights stay on although car is off.

Check the brake light switch. It is in the drivers floor board, behind the brake peddle. The switch looks like a box with a button on it. the brake peddle is pressed, and presses the brake light switch. If the switch sticks, the brake lights will stay on.
