The gear-shifter solenoid or brakelight switch has failed.

To check the brakelight switch, start the car and step on the brake. If the brakelights don't come on, the switch is faulty. You'll find the switch under the dashboard above the brake pedal.

If the brakelights came on, your shifter solenoid is probably bad. In this case, here's a quick-and-dirty fix to get you moving...

Look for a small plastic cover next to the gear shift. Pop this off with a fingernail or small flat screwdriver. There will be a hole beneath the cover. Push a small screwdwiver down that hole untill you feel some resistance. You should now be able to shift out of park.

Be warned...this trick allows a shift even without touching the brake. So get the solenoid fixed as soon as you can.

Good luck !

Marco

Look under the hood at the master cylinder. If it has ABS it will have a part connected to the master and the brake lines with some wires coming out of it.

you replace it. buy a service manual on CD over on ebay. they cost less than a tank of gas. if you are not familiar with bleeding brakes out you might be better of to buy the part and pay a local shop to put it in for you. also good sense mandates doing the other side at the same time so you do not have to get it bled again in two months when that side goes out. might be time to replace the shoes as the labor will not be extra and the shoes are very cheap.

WHY DOSE MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON MY VE 2006 VE COMM

Your ABS System Anit Lock Brake System has a malfunction. You will still have brakes but they will not work as designed. If you just had brake work done take it back where you got it done at possibly damaged the wire to the sensor.

What is ABS and what does it prevent? Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) are active safety features designed to help drivers retain steering control by preventing wheels from locking up during an episode of heavy braking. Wheel lock means that the wheels of the vehicle have stopped rotating and as a result, the vehicle begins to slide.

In Short....ABS allows you to maintain control in hard braking, most are NOT qualified to repair the ABS system take it to a qualified ASE mechanic.

2007 suzuki xl7 abs and trac and stability lights stay on already have had sensor replaced

you forgot to scan it first
and to read the FSM on results of above, sure.

sounds like your shop is incompetent; try a full ASE shop. they wont make excuses...

first off if the brakes are bad or weak the ABS will not be happy.
if the abs cannot control wheel spin, then just maybe its bad brakes.
huh?

in fact its that order
brakes
ABS (abs needs brakes that work or/ fails)
Trac. (track uses ABS to work) so.... is last. to fix.

the lights can go on ,even when driviing off road. or on ice
this is normal, it just means ,easy dude...
but if it sticks on, you scan it, did you not scan it first? at stick on?
buy a scan tool
my innova 3160 does full factory scan.

finding chapter 11 suzuki dealers are a problem. so.... id sell it , if not with all tools needed. buy a jeep. 10x better.
best year is 2006. imo

2006 suzuki sx4. the brake pedal pulses when applied during a left hand turn. it has new pads and also a new master cylinder. The system has been bled several times. it feels like the ABS system is trying...

warped rotor (s)
or wheel falling off (lugs loose) causing rotor walk , on the wild side.
do not delay fixing brakes.
remove wheel
spin hub , see it wobble.? bingo.
could be bad wheel bearings.
have a brake man inspect the brakes.
i have a tool to measure both bad bearings and rotor warp
its called a dial indicator. but you break guy can find this i about
30min or less. (old hat)

I have a 2006 Suzuki Forenza, just had front and back brakes replaced this week, the ABS and the Brake lights will not go off?

If you took it to the shop take it back and make them fix it. Most of the ABS sensor set in a cradle. If it moved back it cannot read The rotor. And some cases of a lot of dust gets accumulated on the sensor. But again if someone Has installed the brakes you need to take it back to the shop that is their responsibility. Best of luck

Abs light dose not turn off

If the yellow ABS light is on and the red brake light is off, the vehicle is safe to drive. The ABS system is disabled due to a problem the computer noticed. You will need to take it to a repair facility or dealership to have them connect a scan tool to your computer. From there, they can read the trouble code(s) and tell you what the problem is. Then they can quote you a price for the part/repair. If the ABS and red brake warning lamps are on, do NOT drive the vehicle, but have it towed to a shop. This would indicate a major malfunction of the brake system.

My abs brake light came on in my car yesterday, what could be wrong with it?

Top off brake fluid.

Check for leaks around master cylinder.

Inspect each brake for fluid leak.

Pull code from ABS computer.

Not the check engine light, but a light with a steering wheel with exclamation point on it. what is that?

Hi:
That is your brake system warning light. You can get your vehicle scanned to see if you have an ABS fault, but you need to first check the brake fluid level in your brake reservour, and if it is low, check for leakage at every wheel.
