2003 ford expedition i just got it a week ago and the front heat works great but the back vents only blow cold air. How do i fix this?

With the car parked and engine idling, turn the ventilation control between windshield defroster and "open air ducts" to front and rear vents. Listen to pinpoint where the valves are that open and closes the air ducts. It sounds like the air duct to rear vents are blocked, and the cold air in rear air duct is coming from "outside ventilation." The air vent to allow hot air to the rear vent is stuck in "open ventilation" mode, like when you're driving in spring or summer months.

A/C will only blow through defrost vents

Common question on this site. On late model cars, the vents are controlled by blend door motors. Small electric motors open and close doors to direct air flow.
Chances are you have a blend door that is stuck or a failed motor.
The default position is the defrost to make sure the windshield is always clear.
Someone will need to look behind the dash to see if all of the doors will move on demand.

I have a 98 ford windstar..heat doesnt work...will only blow cold air, but engine temp. stays normal, when i turn on heat it only blows at window vent..what can this be?

It could be your heating coil. It seems that your fan is running (at least to the outside vents). Since your temp. is fine there is probable not a problem with your coolant. As far as it not blowing through the vents in the middle couldn't tell you.

Why would no air blow out of the dash vents but blow out of the defrost vents. The air conditioning when turned on does the same thing.

There's (flap or doors) that open and close depending where you are the air to come from. The door opening for the vents is most likely broke and staying closed or it is not getting vacuum to the door to open it. They charge $250+ to get into the air unit find problem and fix it. It it a very aggravating job for a person new to this. Take a swing by a air cond specialist to see if they can give you a better answer with the price and problem.

My 1997 C1500 Chevy vent issue

Your blend door is probibly not moving all the way to vent position. If you put it on vent there is probibly air blowing on floor or defrost. It may also be opening just a fraction and causing back pressure on the blower motor causing the noise. Is there any difference in outside air or recirculate?

Electronic vent control not working in Volvo S40

Hi,
I think here, by your description, that there might be something that has slipped inside the vent holes from outside. you can try to blow some compressed air through the vent holes at the bottom of the windscreen.
Otherwise you can try to look under the dash, activate the switch and see if you can locate from where the noise is coming and see if you can reach the mechanism that control the vent. Normally it must be moving free. Otherwise your local mechanic should be able to fix that ufor you.
Cheers.
