i would put a little starter fluid in tb..ie;;;breather tube see if it hits or starts..if it dont its not fuel..eleminate..if it starts bad or weak new fuel pump is likely..
Sounds like it maybe a weak fuel pump.Check your fuel pressure it should be 30-45 psi with key on and engine off.If not within specs replace pump and filter.
the filter is located under the car on the drivers side in ahead of the gas tank along the edge were the floor board and the kick panel meet.its round and about 3"long
The fuel pump is mounted inside the tank. First thing to check is fuel pressure at the shrader valve. If you don't have good fuel pressure then you'll have determined it is a fuel delivery issue. Check for a good power and ground at the fuel pump, if you don't have a power and ground then you'll have to trace the wiring back and find out why you don't have power. Check the fuel pump relay and fuse. If you do have a good power and ground the pump is likely bad and needs to be replaced.
Unfortunatly most dakotas have an inline fuel filter, its located in the gas tank because there not supposed to need regular maintenance or changing. Basically you have to drop your gas tank to get the fuel filter out.
the fuel filter should be located on the inside of left frame rail about middle of truck. you will need 5/8" wrench for line nuts and adjustable to hold filter. and i think 13mm to remove bracket. take off fuel cap when changing filter.
