Hello James.
I don't wish to insult you but replacing the front wheel bearing of a front wheel drive vehicle requires the sort of tool kit and skill level that if you need to ask how you do you do it you are unlikely to possess.

By the time a wheel bearing needs replacing it has been subjected to years of heat, cold and moisture and removing the bearing from the hub can be fraught with difficulties not covered by an average repair manual, difficulties which needs experience and equipment to overcome.
As if that isn't bad enough the work needed to clean and prepare the hub to accept the new bearing needs the realisation the assembly is a piece of precision equipment requiring very high standards if the replacement bearing is to have the best chance of returning a good life-span. This is also true of actually fitting the new bearing where if pressure isn't applied correctly it can be ruined in a second or have it's working life seriously shortened.

I suggest you ask an experienced someone else to fit the bearing this time while you observe.

yes you need a press to remove the bearing and hub , you can use the same hub as long as where the hub goes into the bearing is not scored in any way . the knuckle would have to be taken off and sent to a machine shop if you done have a press. and you should also use caution when putting the nut back on thr axle.

SOURCE: replacing front wheel bearings on a 1999 honda accord

there is a hub and a bearing assembly...usually you need to press the bearings into that hub...need a press to push out the old and press in the new...i replaced mine last year by going to the junkyard and taking out the hub and bearing assembly and just putting the whole thing into my car...much simpler..plus you learn how it goes together by taking it out in the boneyard..no press needed...plus if its genuine honda parts from a honda..(you can match the markings) its likely to be a very good part for a long time. Being used isn't always a bad thing as far as honda parts are concerned. This is from my own experience hope this helps you.

You can call a salvage yard and find the whole assmebly rather than removing the hub assembly and taking it to a machine shop to have the bearing pressed out and in.

It's not a easy job you will need a press to take the old one out and replace the new one, my advice to you is take the steering knockle out and have your local shop press the bearing out for you and put the new one in. This way you just have to bolt everything back up and your good to go.

CHANGING THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING 1991 ACCORD

Parts book shows both a bearing and a hub assembly so it depends on your situation.
To replace a bearing, you have to remove the wheel and brakes, then disconnect the spindle and the axle shaft.
Not something a DIY can do in a driveway without some major tools.

How do I change the front wheel bearings on my Honda? I tried to do it before, but the whole axle assy seemed to want to come apart! is this normal? Any help will be appreciated.

Yes. the whole axle assembly has to come apart. This is the way it is with front wheel drive. The bearing assembly simply bolts to the steering knuckle on your vehicle. This at least makes it do-able (it can be done without a press). However, you will have to press (or knock) the hub assembly out of the bearing. This can be done with a hub puller adapter and a large slide hammer. Pull the hub out of the bearing before removing the steering knuckle. It makes life a whole lot easier. Then remove the steering knuckle so you can remove the bolts securing the bearing assembly. Then you will have to beat the bearing assembly out of the steering knuckle. (They can get pretty stuck!)

2009 Honda accord ex-L. 27k miles. The steering wheel is making a clicking sound when the wheel is turned to the left or right. this is a most noticable when the steering wheel is in the lowest position.

This sounds like it should be a warranty issue due to the year of the vehicle and the mileage.. It sounds like a bearing or the universal joint in the steering column is worn prematurely. I am assuming the noise is coming from the steering column and not from one or both of the half shafts on your front axle. There is a chance the noise could be from the canceling mechanism for the turn signal, but I think it would be worth having it looked at by your dealer. Hope that helps.

How to replace front wheel bearings on a Honda Accord 2000?

Hi:
Changing the front wheel bearings on your Honda Accord are a bit of work: You must remove both front hub assemblies, and that entails undoing the axle nut, the tie rod , the brake caliper, and the other attachpoints on the hub. Then the wheel bearing needs to be pressed out of the hub. I usually have a machine shop do this for me. This is just a basic overview of the process, but wanted to let you know what you are in for...hope this helps!

Sorry, how do you change the front passenger side wheel bearing assembly on 1991 honda accord exr

There are 4 bolts on the back of the knuckel holding the wheel bearing in. The hub is pressed into the wheel bearing, so it must be removed. you will need a 10mm 12 point socket to remove the bolts. Once those bolts are out, it may still be rusted in there, if thats the case, you will need to beat it out with a hammer. BUT be careful because you dont want to ruin the bearing or the splines on the hub by mushrooming the end.
