How do I adjust the throttle position sensor in my 2001 Chevy Suburban 8.1L V8?

I just replaced my throttle position sensor and am wondering how to go about adjusting it since it's held in with two bolts.

You can't and don't want to. Why do you want to adjust it?

When I push on the gas pedal to accelerate my truck it does nothing then about 4 seconds later It jults forward and accelerates any ideas?

Sounds like it is the throttle position sensor . This tell your computer that you are pushing on the pedal to go faster or slower . You may want to go to UTUBE and put your year and brand of truck in , like this Example : 2001 Chevy Suburban Change out throttle position sensor with 5.7 liter ( This is my truck ) . Hope this helps , Grant

I have a 96 chevy tahoe 5.7 vortec and it had a small knock in it so we put in a new crankshaft, main bearings, rod bearings, timing chain, timing cover and all seals and gaskets now the truck misses on number...

Oh man that's a tough one. It almost sounds like a bad head, however there is an electronic spark control mounted to the firewall, that could possibly be doing it. If it is fuel injected, check your injectors. Something else to check would be the fuel pressure regulator. I'll have to think more on it, because you have replaced so much. Have you checked for trouble codes? The throttle position sensor can cause some of your symptoms. Hope this helps, but I think you might have a faulty esc control (electronic spark control)

When my 1999 Chevy Suburban is cold, I start it up and when the accelerator is depressed, the engine bogs down, and it back fires and stalls. When driving, I have to let off the accelerator and depress it...

Possibly the throttle position sensor. Easiest way to test is connect a scanner and go to real time data mode. With the key on,press the accelerator slowly and watch the throttle position change on the scanner. If it doesn't register a change when you start opening the throttle, replace the sensor.

Does a 2001 have a iat sensor?

Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor OPERATION The IAC motor is mounted to the throttle body and is operated by the engine controller. The throttle body has an air control passage that provides air for the engine at idle (when the throttle plate is closed). The IAC motor pintle protrudes into the air control passage and regulates air flow through it. Based on various sensor inputs, the engine controller adjusts engine idle speed by moving the IAC motor pintle in and out of the air control passage. The IAC motor is positioned when the ignition key is turned to the ON position.

OPERATION Found on V6, V8 and V10 engines, the intake manifold air temperature sensor is a variable, thermister type which reacts to temperature changes. In cold air, its resistance is high. As temperatures increase, its resistance decreases.

The sensor element itself extends into the intake manifold air stream to provide input voltage to the engine controller. This signal is used along with signals from other sensors by the engine controller to determine the fuel injector pulse width.
