TO BE HONEST, MR.WIZ, ME AND MY FATHER HAVE A SNAP-ON LATHE MACHINE AND WE DO FINISH CUT THE ROTOR, WE DON'T USE THE DEALER PADS BUT WE DO USE QUALITY WAGNER OR RAYBESTOS BRAKES. THE CUSTOMERS,WE DO TELL THEM ABOUT THE DEALER PARTS, BUT I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE CONDITIONS THE MARKET IS IN, SO WE DO ALL WE CAN TO KEEP THE LIMITED CLIENTELE WE HAVE. USUALLY THEY TEND TO COME BACK ABOUT A MONTH LATER COMPLAINING OF A UNEVEN,(WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH)MY FATHER HAS TOLD ME HE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND I WOULD BE REALLY GRATEFUL FOR A SOLUTION.

Try putting some moly-slip behind the surface of brake pad and caliper. Ensure that none gets on the face of the pads or disks.

I just had my rotors machined and I put new brake pads. Everything worked well, no more vibration when I brake. new noise, a creaking in the front passenger side when I brake. What is this noise?

For safety reasons please have the brakes inspected as soon as possible. Honestly there is more cause for creaking and may or may not have been there before the repairs. I am a full-time mechanic and from time to time have a customer complaint about a noise that wasn't there before the work was performed. Don't get me wrong though, you may be right. If you are then it may be bolts or nuts that was not properly torqued, a surface that wasn't properly cleaned before reassembly or human error. The technician may have missed something or for a necessary step. A faulty caliper with piston issues, a caliper mounting bracket with damaged sliders and or improperly cleaned surfaces where the shims and brake pads slide could all be suspect. The pistons, sliders and brake pads should all move and slide freely, without play. The mechanic may test drive the vehicle to confirm your complaint, inspect all the brake components located behind the wheels and report their findings. If nothing is found they will need to look elsewhere. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else. Good luck.

Squeaking noise and knocking noise coming from front drivers side. No noise when driving in wet conditions. No noise when i reverse and brake either.

I would first check your front half shafts, it seems like they are either worn out or the boots have torn or cracked allowing dirt and moisture to get into the bearings.

My 1995 Lexus sc300 antenna broke and I have ordered the part from Toyota for $103.00! Is it a $95 an hour job? They are quoting me two hours and I am on a fixed income. Can the repair be done by someone...

Hi

Any decent mechanic can do this job, the time taken is basicaly removing trim and components to be able to fit the new one, "tip" Toyota mechanics are among the highest paid in the world. and mechanic worth his salt can do the job, in fact you could do it with a little time and patience.

Passenger rear wheel bearng needs to be replaced.does this require special tools? I've just had a complete brake job ,new pads new rotors new drums and I have a recurring grinding noise coming from the...

You can do this job your self with common tools. Auto zone carries the wheel bearing you need and can give you the step by step instructions to replacing the bearing. Here is a tip, to try to break the old wheel bearing from the axle. Just loosen the 4 bolts 3 mm that hold the bearing to the axle and put the wheel back on and drive the car back and forth a few times, hard on the brakes to break it free from the axle. Once the bearing breaks free from the axle, it should take you under 45 min to get the job done. Good luck and be safe.

Brake Problem

It looks like one of your break lines have gone bad and needs to be replaced. It's more common for the one of the front brake lines to have gone bad, replace both sides, flush out the brake fluid and bleed the system to ensure there is no air in the lines. You can go to Auto Zone to buy the new brake lines and they will also have the step by step instructions for you the get the job done. Note: locate where the leak is coming from to ensure that it's not a bad brake Cylinder at the rear brakes, of one of the front brake caliper's, or the master cylinder. Regardless Auto will have all the parts and step by step instructions so you can get the job done with common tools. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Toyota Cressida noise

Check Brake caliper and pads may need shims on pads, if its a rattling noise on bumpy roads calipers will rattle if brake clips or shims are missing. Car moving from left to right by itself could be a few things 1 Bad rack-and pinon mounting bushings 2. Bad inner or outer tie rods. 3. bad ball joints 4. uneven wear on tires. check all of the above and you will find your problem. Rpm guage not working more than likely is the cluster itself is going bad or malfunction. I wouldn't worry too much about since it just RPM.
