the obvious place to work on would be the switch as bypassing it makes the winch work. The problem will be there or the solenoids that the switch controls . What about the wire to the switch
If your wiring a remote control to the winch or inside control,,, 4 solinoids type,,make sure the solinoids have ground on the brown wire(warn)...if you don't have a ground all it will do is click,,,even if power is applyed
just make sure you get the right steel plate for your bumper to hold the winch on or it will rip your bumper off the first time you use it make sure it is bolted sucure
if you can use the winch manually by pressing buttons on the winch then the problem will be in either the remote unit(Battery in back to front) or the receiver in the winch
use a 12v car battery and a small battery charger... a winch draws alot of amps when in use... so you need the battery to supply the amperage ... 12v power supplies are low amperage output supplies... so will not work (inexpensively).
There should be a spot in your fuse box to connect it to. You pobably need to put a contact clip(slide on) on your wire end. Personally I like it directly to battery, fused if needed and put a kill switch under the hood.
why the big deal two wires and a ground run to altenator small wire connector is the warning light and the big connector goes to the battery or the battery /starter connection and thats it winch has nothing to do with anything regarding charging,it will be connected directly to the battery.
