Is there any of the disc sticking out? If it is you might be able to grip it with fine nosed pliers and pull it back out. If it has disappeared into the dashboard your only option is to remove the radio unit out of the dash and get it out that way. Try the YouTube link below it is for an X type similar to yours.
either way there is a good chance you'll have a badly scratched cd.
Are teh cd's that you are trying to play MP3 that yo made from your computer? Most of these cd players only play AAC file format, try a cd that you had bought, that it's not an mp3 format. Best of luck.
You have power to the CD player, since it's cycling CDs. Your Base unit is working, since it's not seeing the CD Information. The most likely culprit is that the cable in between is either damaged or not-seated properly at one end. I don't know the specifics on your system, but Grundig Aura listings on eBay show a separate changer unit, with a specialty cable in between (same setup I had on my old Saab). The cable even looks identical, no doubt some audio industry plug standard. Anyhow, go re-seat the cable on both ends - you will likely need some DIN wires to pull the dash unit, or access in from under the dashboard, depending on your car. If that fails, you may have to consider replacing the cable. There are likely pin-outs for the cable, so you can test continuity on the pins with a volt meter if you want to be sure on the cable before the likely PITA task of routing the cable through a bunch of crevices in the car body.
Sorry to hear the display is blank even though the cd radio appears to function. The display is usually an LCD with back panel lights that makes the characters visible. Most likely the small rice globes behind the panel are blown. Usually needs some sort of desoldering and resoldering to replace. If you can take the player out from the dashboard and take it to the local audio repair shop you will save quite a bit of money to get this fixed.
cant help here ,dont have one but you will need to remove the centre column first and maybe evan the whole dashboard ,heater unit is put in first before dash ,sorry to be a liitle off putting but this is a major job on most vehicles
If you look on e-bay, you will find many double din stereos for sale. (double din being the larger sereo, as in double the size of the single din that we consider standard size)
You can not. The unit is a solid state, with a circuit board on the back. non repairable bulbs.
You should take to dealer , there is an open recall on the dash assemlby. Chevrolet will replace the unit with there exchange program.
