How are you trying to open the door , button on key fob ? With this system you can pull up on the drivers handle an it activates Antennas in the external side door handles (C30/C70 front doors, S40/V50 rear doors)

  • Antennas in the passenger compartment and cargo compartment
  • An antenna in the rear bumper
  • Quick lock motors in the lock units in the side doors
  • The remote keyless entry (RKE) receiver receives a signal from the key
  • The switch in the clutch pedal (manual transmissions) or a signal from the brake pedal switch via the central electronic module (CEM) (automatic transmissions)
  • Key-in switch.
  • Switch in door handle and lock button on handle .
If a door handle is pulled outward, a switch closes that wakes up the system and activates the antennas in the handles on the side where the handle has been pulled out. If a valid key is within a radius of approx. 1.5 metres from the handle, the relevant door will open and the vehicle will unlock one or several doors. Which doors are unlocked depends on the settings for the system. The vehicle can also be unlocked if the handle is affected on the tailgate.

Try re-programming the key fob using these instructions:

    -Close all the vehicle doors.

-Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.

-Press and hold the door unlock switch.

-While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.

-Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.

-Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on the transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of the transmitter.

-Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.

-Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

    Good luck!

SOURCE: Keyless Entry Key Doesn't Work

Regarding the remote transmitter issue: Take the remote transmitter to your Toyota dealer. Ask them to test your transmitter with their hand-held RF detector. All Toyota dealers are required to have one of these devices. The RF detector will test the remote to see if it is indeed transmitting the proper RF out of the transmitter, and the strength of the RF signal. If there is no signal, the remote has failed (unfortunatly common), and the remote will need to be replaced and reprogrammed to the vehicle. I do this quite regularly, and rarely do I tell customers taht they need to spend 800 dollars for such a simple diagnosis/fix. The keyless system is very reliable. I rarely change the ECU for the keyless, unless somebody somehow gets the ECU wet, then it def needs replaced. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: How do i program remote keyless entry?

You don't normally program a keyless entry, that's done for you by the technicians that install that. If the replaced battery doesn't solve the problem, take the battery and the remote to the techies that installed it.

Keyless Entry System Description and Operation - Active
The keyless entry system is a vehicle entry device. The keyless entry system is used in conjunction with the door locks to unlock the vehicle. Keyless entry will lock/unlock a door or open the rear compartment lid when a corresponding button on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. This is accomplished by the transmitter sending a radio frequency to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). The RCDLR interprets the signal and activates the requested function via a serial data message. A low transmitter battery or radio frequency (RF) interference from aftermarket devices, such as 2-way radios, power inverters, computers, etc., may cause a system malfunction. High RF traffic areas, such as gas stations that use pay-at-the-pump RF transponders, may also cause interference that could lead to a malfunction. Keyless entry allows you to operate the following features:
    • Door lock/unlock
    • Rear compartment lid release
    • Illuminated entry lamps
    • Panic alarm/Vehicle locator
    • Remote vehicle start

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . Dealer

2008 HHR Remote Starter not working

Is this an issue with all 2008 HHR remotes??? Highly doubtful , probably the vehicles keyless entry system . Taking the vehicle to a qualified repair shop an having the keyless entry system checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . Do you know what a DTC is ?
The keyless entry system is a vehicle entry device. The keyless entry system is used in conjunction with the body control module (BCM) to remotely activate certain vehicle features. Keyless entry will lock/unlock the doors, or release the rear compartment lid when a corresponding button on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed. This is accomplished by the transmitter sending a radio frequency to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). The RCDLR interprets the signal and activates the requested function via a serial data message to the BCM. A low transmitter or vehicle battery or radio frequency (RF) interference from aftermarket devices, such as 2-way radios, power inverters, computers, etc., may cause a system malfunction. High RF traffic areas may also cause interference that could lead to a malfunction. Keyless entry allows you to operate the following components:
    • Door locks
    • Liftgate lock
    • Remote rear doors (Panel only)
    • Vehicle locator/panic alarm
    • Illuminated entry lamps
    • Remote vehicle start
The keyless entry system has the following components:
    • Keyless entry transmitters
    • Keyless entry antenna
    • 2 Way Advanced Remote Start RCDLR
    • BCM

Guessing will not fix this .

2008 Volkswagen Jetta keyless entry & lock problems

If the system is not working even when you press the buttons on the door, then the problem is not with the remote control. I would first check if all the fuses are ok, if they are, I would check the wiring on the door to make sure there are no wires broken of chaffed. Focus first on getting the system working with the door buttons and after that is ok, the move on to the keyless system in case it still does not work. Hope this helps.

Battery went dead on car, car security system is in safe mode and want let car start, when you unlock the car alarm sounds and want do anything else, Battery has been replaced, can i reset the alarm if so...

    Hello,

The new battery should have reactivated the alarm? If this is a keyless entry, than your original code should work?

If it doesn't than you need to call the dealer, or seervice provider for your alarm system there has to be a reset code, or a new one has to be provided?

I would try your normal code first! If it works, your good, if not, your going to be on the phone! No body but the place you purchased your vehicle from or the Alarm system provider can give you that answer!

    Kind Regards!
