The rear wipper does not work when I turn it on but does work when I spray the window

Sounds like you might have a bad multifunction switch. You can test the outputs of the switch to confirm.

2005 Tahoe rear windshield wiper inoperative in dash panel position 1or2

Rear Wiper/Washer System Components
The rear wiper/washer system consists of the following components:
• Rear wiper/washer switch
• Window wiper module-rear
• Window washer pump-rear
• RR WIPER 15A fuse
• RR WPRB 25A fuse
Rear Wiper/Washer System Operation
The rear wiper module controls rear wiper motor operation. Battery voltage supplied to the module is used to operate the wiper motor in all modes and to return the rear wiper arm to the park position after the ignition is turned off. Accessory voltage supplied to the rear wiper/washer switch is used to supply the rear window wiper and washer switch signal circuits. In wiper switch positions 1 and 2 the wiper switch signal circuit voltage level to the wiper motor module determines the wiper motor delay interval. The rear window washer pump supply voltage circuit is used to provide the operating voltage for the rear washer pump for as long as the rear washer switch is pressed. The rear window washer switch signal circuit is used as a wash signal to the rear wiper motor module to operate the wipers during the rear wash operation.

Did you replace the rear wiper module ?

Subaru wiper

guessing sucks, no? very expensive..!!! what year CAR?
ever heard of a $20 DMM that all have a voltmeter?
yes, use a volt meter.
if you had , you would have found that there was no
power to the motor, when activated.
the motors on all wipers are self sustaning of zero point.
that means that it self powers up inside with its one power switch.
so some need power on 2 pins, RTM read the FSM its there .
ever wonder why wipers keep going when turn off, that is it returns for FREE. bingo on self power I(no this is not free energy , lol)

there are only 2 pissible.
1: no power.
2:its jammed, same is true for all Elect motors, be it wiper , windows, fans, sure anything.

rear windows are pretty much not jammable but ive
never look inside the rear rear door of the not stated year, Subaru.
but if you look and see arms in there, bingo. they are jammed
one way to do this , done many a time.
is to release just the motor arm and then cycle the mechanism
by hand, oops , jammed.

no power, or jammed.

Rear window wiper doen sot work

I've done a few of these. The shaft that the wiper arm bolts to gets corroded inside, causing the motor to work slowly then quit.Have an assistant turn the key on and move the switch from on to off while you listen at the tail gate for a faint clicking..this tells you the wires and switch are likely OK. If you bring it to a shop have them double check power & ground before they replace the motor, just to be sure.A used motor may have the same issue...get new or remanufactured

Rear window wiper doesn't work.

Check 12 V supply. turn rear wiper switch on and test wiring to the rear wiper motor. If no voltage check fuse. If voltage, replace wiper motor.
